Fujifilm FinePix X100 pre-orders begin, priced like an antique

Fujifilm’s FinePix X100 is already available for pre-sales at Adorama, but the classic-look camera might not please many people with its asking price of $1,200. Well, some might kill to own this 12.3-Megapixel APS-C shooter which comes with the elegant F2 Fujinon lens and a very sexy magnesium body.

Autopilot goes real, Skynet outbreak nearer as ever

We’ve seen robots go from moving to walking to possibly almost running like a real Usain Bolt. Almost. Well, here’s another example (albeit a very early proto) real-time self-driving car. Developed by the European Safe Road Trains for the Environment (SARTRE) project with the help from Volvo, the Swedish company that’s so obsessed with safety, this car is now being tested on the road, as shown by the video below. Kinect with projector sends a hadouken in your face!

Kinect with projector sends a hadouken in your face!

Kinect hack, they’ve calm down after the raging sea, but we though we’ve seen it all. Nope, now Kinect hack goes even wilder with augmented reality projection. Elliot Woods took the idea that Kinect can map a three-dimensional space and twisted it to his own devious ends – that is, doing the all familiar Street Fighter ‘abuuuuukittttttt!!!!’ complete with sound effect! What’s impressive here, though, isn’t the size of his hadouken, but rather the light it’s made of – each is a virtual dynamic light source casting light on the room’s real objects to create virtual shadows on the surfaces that stick out. Street Fighter has never been so awesome!

More iPad 2 cases comes out to prove a point

And the points are? Yes to SD card slot, yes to tiny rear camera, yes to speaker, but now we’re adding another yes to potential mini-DisplayPort! It’s either that, or a mini-HDMI port. Looking at how powerful the next Apple dual-core A5 chip will be, there’s just no harm in providing HDMI-output to the AppleTV.

ASUS going the Mediterranean taste?

ASUS going the Mediterranean taste?

Now what is this? What are you doing, ASUS? Previous the Taiwanese Electronics giant teamed up with Lamborghini for some notebook lineup, and we’ve also seen some “Bamboo” themed notebooks, and now ASUS is messing with the Mediterranean wind? Or are they borrowing the East wind? It seems likely that ASUS will be prioritizing both performance and styling with this new product. We might probably see some netbooks with the calm looks of the Sahara but with the speed of a hurricane from the dessert. We will find out the answer at a launch event on Wednesday, so stay tuned.

LG Flatron E2290 7.2mm Thick LED LCD Monitor with nice silky hair

LG’s obsession for slimness has really gone out of hand, but luckily we aren’t seeing rib bones yet. At least they look lovely and sweet when they’re turned on. LG demonstrated their latest FLATRON E2290V at CES 2011, which measures at merely 7.2mm thick, as the ultra-slim 21.5-inch LED backlight LCD monitor is equipped with a 10,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Brightness is at 250cd/m2, and it has a 2ms response time. But sadly all the guts are transferred to the fat bums below. The LG Flatron E2290 also provides HDMI, D-Sub and DVI ports. LG didn’t mention of any price and availability, so we still need to wait along. Hopefully she’s still available by then.
