iPad 2 to have 1024 x 768 display?

iPad 2 to have 1024 x 768 display

All this little rumours just from a simple iOS 4.3 developer build. Apple would be very furious by now to be leaking the info themselves. Yesterday we saw new iPhone and iPad models in the codes of iOS 4.3, as well as camera for the next iPad, besides the weird ‘Find My Friends’ feature. Now we have yet another news, though it’s still related to the cameras. Today’s revelation comes in the form of shutter screens and camera / video icons care of 9 to 5 Mac, but here’s the catch: to believe these imagery to be the real thing is to also accept that the iPad 2 might have the same 1024 x 768 display, given that’s what these pictures are optimized for. Yet people keep saying that the next iPad will have a uber 2530 x 1897 Retina Display. False hope?

BlackBerry Torch 2, will it light back the fight?

BlackBerry Torch 2, will it light back the fight?

As everyone knows, when RIM launched their BlackBerry Torch, it never met the expectations of BlackBerry fans. Now that the sales of Torch are not very promising, RIM is planning a very big speed bump (and some others) for its Torch in order to have a decent fight with all the Android phones and iPhones and WP7 that’s flooding the market.

The upcoming Torch 2 is said to have a new 1.2GHz processor, 14.4Mbps triband HSPA, a VGA display at the original Torch’s same 3.2-inch size, BlackBerry OS 6.1, and — like some of the other leaks we’ve seen — integrated NFC, which suggests the Nexus S may have started something good here. If BGR’s sources are on, you can look for this in the third quarter on AT&T.

Ten billion apps download for Apple

Ten billion apps download for Apple

Apple is on a roll, and everybody knows that. But sometimes the numbers are rather staggering. When you compare a million to a billion, there’s a very huge difference. But when the numbers reach tens of billions, even some calculators can’t do the math. Apple is now counting down to their ten billionth app download at their app store. Not sure when will they reach that, but the counter looks quite unbelievable, with each seconds adding hundreds. You do the maths.

Regardless of the explosion of the iPad, free apps, app updates, duplicate downloads, that’s still a very massive amount of downloads. Apple celebrated its one billionth app in April 2009, and nearly two years, they’re now going to celebrate the number in tenfold, which is very impressive no matter how you slice it up. Well, if you get lucky enough, you could score a $10,000 iTunes gift card if you just so happen to download the ten billionth app – just make sure it’s a good one.

Girl impresses judge with iPad app, might impress Steve too

January 15th, 2011

These days everyone wants to be a star. Rock star, superstar, there’s even the YouTube star. But when you try to impress a judge at a talent search contest by using a guitar app on your iPad, then that’s quite an odd ball. Nevertheless, it’s still very impressive to say the least. Reminds me of the Apple Girl. Will she go big and be the iPad Girl?

AMD Bulldozer 50-percent faster than Core i7

AMD’s Core i7 killer, the Bulldozer has been delayed and delayed time and time again, but now we finally get to have a rough idea of how it’ll stack to Intel’s flagship lineup, the Core i7. This is a very early stage partner presentation so we should all probably take a pint of salt with this news.

DonanimHaber stated that the performance figures came from a slide in a presentation to partners, and that the 8-core processor based on the “Bulldozer” high-performance CPU architecture is pitched by its makers to have 50% higher performance than existing processors such as the Core i7 950 (4 cores, 8 threads), and Phenom II X6 1100T (6 cores). Closer look at Samsung’s flexible OLED display

January 15th, 2011

It was shown at CES’s floor, but we never had a good glimpse of it. Now we can thanks to PhoneArena. The display is small, but indeed flexible. More like a thick paper. That’s surely a very expensive paper. You can bend it and slightly twist it, probably roll-able too. But I just can’t see any device that will take advantage of this product.
