Usually when it comes to toothpaste, people will choose something that’s fresh mint. Anything other than that would be extremely awful, or least inspiring to say the least. What’s more if you’re about to taste the weather. You won’t want your teeth to taste sweet in the morning do you, unless your partner wants something sweet while kissing you in the morning? How about very cloudy teeth? Well, the folks at MIT have recently created the toothpaste that changes its flavour according to the weather. Read more…
Another new year welcomes another new Kingston Chinese Zodiac Thumbdrive. Well, 2011 is supposed to be the year of the rabbit for the Chinese Zodiac, and to celebrate the occasion, Kingston will be releasing a special edition thumb drive that is made exclusively for APAC region. And yes, it’ll have the very ‘cute’ rabbit shape that you see above, not some simpleton thumb drive with a rabbit logo.
Available in 4GB and 8GB capacity, it is preloaded with Kingston’s SecureTraveler security tool and special celebration video – presumably Prison Rabbit wishing its new owner happy Chinese New Year. Nothing much there besides the 5-years limited warranty that it carries.

Besides introducing over a dozen of Sandy laptops at Vegas, MSI also brought along an unsuspecting all-in-one desktop, called the MSI WindTop AE2210. But little do we know that this touchscreen piece of glass is actually also powered by Sandy. The system features a 22-inch multitouch screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio for 1080p Full HD content. It’s also powered by a desktop version Intel Core i7 processor, which is the Core i7-2600. There’s also a DirectX 11-capable integrated graphics, an HDMI input and a couple of USB 3.0 ports that provide a high speed data transfer (up to 5Gbps). There’s no mention of what discrete graphic is used here, but it should be running on Intel’s new HD2000 graphic that is on the Core i7-2600. The MSI WindTop AE2210 22-inch all-in-one PC will be released in the first quarter of 2011.

Motorola seemed to be in a roll in Vegas, as they roll out quite some interesting products at CES 2011. Here’s another Android phone from Motorola, but this time it’s packed with the latest LTE 4G technologies, and is heading towards Verizon US. But that’s not the only bizarre thing about this so called Droid Bionic.
This humongous 4.3-inch qHD screen is powered by Nvidia’s 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, with 512MB of RAM, a front-facing VGA camera, an 8-Megapixel rear camera, HDMMI out, and a Mirror Mode that will let you do simultaneous streaming of video to the TV and on the device.

Heading to Verizon, Motorola’s Xoom tablet which will be running on Google’s Android 3.0, Honeycomb gets a proper date with the guess at CES. The 10.1-inch tablet is powered by Nvidia’s dual-core Tegra 2, with a resolution of 1280 x 800. There’s a 5 megapixel camera at the back with 720p video recording and 1080p video playback. Standard connectivity is like 802.11n and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. There’s also a huge 32GB onboard storage. The tablet will be launch in the first quarter, which means these few months, but LTE connectivity will only be coming in the second quarter in the form of an update. The battery is rated to be capable of supporting 10 hours of video, which is very impressive, considering notebooks these days can merely survive a Blu-ray movie and some extras.

Acer might have a dual-screen notebook called the Iconia, but it seemed that they intent to make that a brand or unique lineup at least, as the Taiwanese company have announced an Iconia Tab A500 tablet at CES. The tablet is going to Verizon’s 4G LTE network, which means support for LTE signals.
The tab is essentially the 10-inch tablet we peeked in November, being “10 point multitouch” and powered by Nvidia Tegra 2 chip. There’s a gyroscope which Acer says will be great for gaming. There’s also 1080p video output over the built-in HDMI port, which is getting more popular nowadays. Oddly, Acer didn’t specify the resolution of that 10-inch multitouch screen. At the moment there’s no mention of price or even availability, so there’s still probably some tweaking needed.

When it comes to sound systems, some goes for Sound Quality (SQ) and some goes for the more bombastic Sound Pressure Level (SPL). But then there are those ‘unique’ small groups that will somehow find a way to squeeze a wall of huge woofers into their car to try and rattle the hell out of their car, probably to kill it too when they’re at it. That’s what exactly happening here, where some dude come and squeeze in some Ascendant woofer into the back seat of his unsuspicious lowered Chevrolet S-10 truck, and turn it into a boom truck instead. Yeah, that speaker really rattles the hell out of the truck, but also managed to be a pretty cool Tina Turner hairstylist. Good grief, I’m glad I didn’t kill my car like that.

Optimus black, quite possibly the sexiest Autobot phone out there, this is LG’s latest flagship Android phone. It’s packed with a 4-inch NOVA display that LG promise to be both bright (700 nits) and energy efficient. The phone is not only huge at 4-inch, but also super slim. That’s 9.2 mm slim, yet packed with 1,500mAh battery that the company says will be able to give you a full day of Android fun-ness. The taper on the back sees the set go from 9mm in the middle to 6mm on each side. The phone is also super light, weighting at 109g which is lighter than typical smartphone.
