Zotac Zbox AD03 Blu-ray HTPC gives some Zacate action

While Intel’s Sandy Bridge has been making headlines everywhere, let’s not forget about AMD’s Bobcat platform. Their Zacate E-350 APU might have managed to get into a number of laptops, but it’s not getting very well featured in a desktop based on Fusion right now. But great news, as Zotac has once again made a great HTPC by utilizing this new AMD Fusion APU in its latest Zbox AD03/AD03 Plus.
While it’s been known to beat Intel’s famous Atom platform by quite some margin, it also has proved itself a real alternative to Intel’s stable of underwhelming nettop chips, and is starting to make presence felt. The previously known issue of missing Flash video acceleration will be fixed on some upcoming drivers. Thus far, the AD03 Plus, which is priced around $529 isn’t getting very good review points as it only has tiny 2GB of RAM and sluggish 250GB HDD for such a high price, but the barebone $439 oddly gets good review with its 4GB of memory and a speedy SSD.
