iPad 2 an ideal bait for scammers?

March 11 is increasingly near as we go, and to some it might be just a normal Friday but to some others it’s the day for them to buy the magical iPad 2, which by the way is 30-percent thinner! But there is also a small number that’s going to be anticipating this day, they day they get to fully launch their bonanza of online scams and tricks relating to the new iPad 2.
“Although there won’t be as much excitement around the iPad 2 as there was around the original launch of the iPad, there’s no doubt that it will be a highly desirable gadget — so it won’t be any surprise at all if cybercriminals begin to use it as bait in their scams and attacks,” Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for the security firm Sophos, told SecurityNewsDaily.
The iPad 2 was announced in March 2 by Apple CEO Steve Jobs, and the new magical iPad 2 will be in stores March 11. As calculation goes, that leaves scammers a little more than a week to prepare their deadly ploys. In addition to the typical survey scams, phishing e-mails and social media posts promising free iPads, Cluley said he expects to see offers “claiming that Apple is looking for last minute ‘beta ‘testers’” to try out the device before the general public.
We’ve even come by to a few bulk deals that are offering the iPad 2 with lower price than the Apple Stores, which of course requires us to place some deposits for the trader, as usual for these scams and ploys. We do remind readers to view any too-good-to-be-true offers, be it offline or online, with a pint of salt and skepticism. There’s definitely no free lunch out there.
