Archos says ‘tablet is serious business’

All these while nobody actually took Archos’s Android tablets seriously, but things are about to change, well at least Archos hope it will. Apparently Archos is preparing some very tasty dual-core Honeycomb tablets for a June 2011 release. These tablets will be packed with a 1.6GHz ARM A9 dual-core chip, up to 250GB of HDD or 32GB of SSD, and a patent-pending “disruptive 3G modem”, whatever that means. The tablet will cost around €400, which seemed reasonable. Archos’ fiendish plan is to steal some of the iPad 2′s market pie to munch, but June is still some time to go, and looking at how Archos tablets performed previously, they’ll need more than just fancy specs to give a decent exercising fight with Apple’s iPad 2.
