iPad 2 has intermittent WiFi connectivity issue, which sounds very familiar
March 28th, 2011
When the first iPad came, it had troubling issues with maintaining a stable wireless connection and Apple has already promised a fix from iOS 4.2, but that didn’t really solve the problem according to some owners of iPad. Now that the brand new second generation iPad is out in the hands of the public, it seemed that the same issue has haunted Apple’s new iPad 2 yet again. Holding it wrong? Not sure about that, but there’s a huge number of complaints from users over at Apple’s forum right now. Have you got your iPad 2? How’s the WiFi? While Mozilla is busy with their Firefox 4 launch and development of the Firefox 5, Google Inc. has also churn out the next version of Chrome, which is Chrome 11, and this time it’s not getting just a new logo. Google is throwing quite an intensive list of new features to their Chrome browser. The new version now has speech-to-text capabilities thanks to support for HTML5 speech input API. Web developers will be able to take advantage of to let folks simply talk to websites and have their speech magically transcribed to text. Also making a first appearance in the beta is support for GPU-accelerated 3D CSS, which will let developers apply all sorts of 3D effects to websites. Finally a good product that might just give Apple’s MacBook Air a run for its money is here. The 13-inch version went for sale few weeks ago, and now the 11-inch version is finally here. There’s good news and bad news though. The good news is that the 11-inch 9-Series Samsung laptop that sports sexy duralumin curves will be yours for only $1,199, but the bad news is that if you bring along your Full-HD movie and porn collection and gazillion of other scandalicious photos, you might need to tug along your portable hard drive, as this little baby only has a 64GB SSD drive in it. Well, the sacrifice of ‘portability’. SOURCE via Samsung Apple might license AirPlay to HDTV manufacturers
March 28th, 2011
At current time, companies are shelling out $4 per device to add AirPlay audio streaming into their products, but it seemed that demand for video to be included is soaring high, and HDTV manufacturers are very interested in having the AirPlay tag on their products. A couple of people “familiar with the matter” have informed Bloomberg that Apple Inc. could be taking AirPlay to the next level. According to sources, the video streaming protocol is already baked in, but not enabled / allowed under the current licensing agreement. It’s bruited that the folks in Cupertino could soon expand the AirPlay license program to include video streaming from iPhones and iPads, with integration into HDTVs being the most obvious application. Specifically, the new plan would enable electronics makers to “use [AirPlay] in devices for streaming movies, TV shows and other video content,” but there’s no clear time table as to when any of this would go down. Get ready to be bombarded by the ‘AirPlay’ marketing gimmick very soon. SOURCE via Bloomberg Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra 44 Chronograph Watch For London 2012 Olympics

Buffalo announces “world’s first” Portable BDXL Burner in Japan
March 28th, 2011
Buffalo has announced that the company will launch its first portable BDXL drive, the BRXL-PC6U2-BK drive in Japan by the end of the month for ¥23,205 (about $286), and is claiming “world’s first” with this drive. Of course, there’s no indication of when this will actually be available in our country. For the uninitiated, BDXL (RE4) is a new Blu-ray specification defined back in June 2010 that allows capacities of 100 GB (three layers) and 128 GB (four layers) for write-once BD-R discs, and 100 GB for rewritable BD-RE discs. “By using the existing Blu-ray technologies, we have created a long-term and stable solution for archiving large amounts of sensitive data, video and graphic images,” said Victor Matsuda, Blu-ray Disc Association Global Promotions Committee chair. According to Buffalo, the new slim and compact drive can burn data to these new discs at 4x speed. The only drawback is that the drive requires two USB 2.0 connections to burn at full throttle, but can still perform at 2x speed by using only one USB 2.0 connection.
