It’s been awhile since I last read Martview, but now the brand new magazine reader app that started on the Windows desktop is now available for iPad. The Martview app for iPad is compatible with both 1st and 2nd generation iPad, with iOS version 3.2 and above.
If you do not know, Martview is an app that allows you to download and read magazines and books and comics, just like iBooks. But the great thing about Martview is that it’s gratis! Every book that you download is free. At the moment the Martview app is still free for download, but I’m not sure if they will charge for any download in the future. So hurry up and grab it while it’s hot and free!
Besides downloading it from the Martview book browser integrated in the software, you can also read your books and magazines by importing them yourself into Martview. You can download .MART files and .PDF files from the internet and save it into your Martview apps. JPEGs, PNG, and many other formats are also supported. Available at iTunes.

Remember Google’s strive to have WebM support replacing Flash and H.264? Well, the search engine giant has now taken a huge step to push the support for WebM video streaming by having YouTube running on WebM. Yes, YouTube belongs to Google if you’ve forgotten. From now on, all videos uploaded to YouTube will be automatically transcoded into a WebM version.
YouTube said that nearly a third of YouTube’s archives have already made the transition to the open source format, though if you think that’s a small proportion, you should probably know that those 30 percent account for 99 percent of all views on the site. Apparently, we all have a narrower set of interests than we like to believe.
So, with all popular vids encoded and every incoming one getting the transcoding treatment, all you really need now is a compatible browser — Chrome (naturally), Firefox 4, Opera, or IE9 with a plug-in — and to enroll in YouTube’s HTML5 trial linked below to get rolling with WebM playback. Appending “&webm=1″ to a search string or a video’s URL will also help you ensure you’re getting onboard the WebM format, though it doesn’t seem to work for me. Well, that’s only me maybe.

As we know, processors of smartphones and tablets are getting more exposure than computer processors. I mean, people buy and own computers but more than half of them don’t even know what a dual-core processor and Hyper Threading means. All they know is that it’s Intel and that’s it. They’ll probably took notice if there’s any Nvidia or Radeon on their computer or not, but that’s extra for those teenagers going to universities.
Now all the attention is given to smartphones and tablets, because more people seek out these instead of computers. What’s more, the popularity of them is raising sky high due to Apple and Android. The processor used by these electronic devices are all running on ARM processor designs that put heat and power consumption and size ahead of processing power. Now that ARM processors are growing rapidly, the company has a better roadmap up ahead to cater for its demand.
The next generation of ARM system-on-chip has been dubbed Cortex-A15 and was expected to ship in 2013, but that’s now been accelerated slightly towards late 2012, which is when we’re told to expect actual devices on sale with A15 silicon on board.
Faster single- and dual-core variants will get us started, before quad-core options start filtering through in 2013. ARM promises a stunning fivefold improvement in performance over current Cortex-A9 SOCs and already has NVIDIA, Samsung, ST-Ericsson, and Texas Instruments signed up as licensees for that new hotness.
Get ready to embrace a future of compact yet powerful portable devices. I won’t be surprised if future low-powered notebooks are also running on ARM processors.

It’s almost a year since Apple’s iPhone 4 is out in the market. Remember the ‘Apple vs Samsung’ case that just went on stage lately? Now why did Apple use their iPhone 3G patent to sue Samsung instead of iPhone 4? Well that’s partly because they don’t own the patent, yet. But now they do.
The company has been granted the patent a year after the company filed the application, which details the “ornamental design for an electronic device with graphical user interface” in words and pictures. What’s more, Apple’s now also finally snagged a design patent for the 2007 iPod touch, and it’s picked up a few other patents related to iTunes, Apple TV, and one for a “touch screen RFID tag reader.”
Now, Meizu better get ready as I predict that Apple will be suing them too very soon with this new iPhone 4 patent. I won’t be surprised if Apple also decides to sue other NAS builders with their Apple TV pattern.

It seems that not only Apple is enjoying this quarter, but so does Intel. Intel has reported a wonderful quarter, but wait, didn’t the company lost a big amount in the Sandy Bridge recall issue? Looks like the recall didn’t setback Chipzilla at all, as they just had their best ever quarter. The company expected to pull in roughly $11.6 billion, topping last quarter (and its previous record) by $500 million. It raked in a grand total of $12.8 billion in Q1 of 2011. About $500 million of that discrepancy can be explained by the acquisition of McAfee and Infineon, the rest is thanks to huge increases in sales across all market segments. It looks like they sold lots of Sandy Bridge processors.

Rumors will continue to be rumors. We’ve heard plenty about what the next iPhone will have. But this time, it’s regarding the production of the next iPhone. Previously we’ve heard that the iPhone will ship in September, but now sources close to Apple said that production will start as early as July. According to Reuters, he iPhone will feature a faster processor, naturally, and look largely similar to the iPhone 4, and will be unveiled in their fall event, usually held in early September. Looks like the June event will be about the next iOS only.

HTC mentioned that their brand new dual-core Android smartphone will be coming in summer, but we were never given a specific time. Now, cheeky Google has spoiled the fun by giving an Adwords ad mentioning a “6/8” date in the link. TmoNews also spotted the same date stamped on the Sensation 4G product shot from last week, which is embedded under this post. Of course, anything could happen, as HTC may just change the date, but this is still a good indication and guideline for those looking forward to the new smartphone.
