Can you imagine R/C Peterbilt tows full-scale Nissan Patrol?
April 19th, 2011
What we’re seeing here is so awesome. This dude who’s got a remote-control Peterbilt stepped on it to give it some downward force, and set off to pull his full-scale Nissan Patrol. We’re not entirely sure what sort of drivetrain this mini-semi is packing, nor do we know if it is receiving any help from the engine in the SUV. Even if the Patrol did lend a hand, the fact that the R/C machine can pull around a full-grown adult without breaking a sweat is impressive enough. It would be even more awesome if this RC truck can transform into an Optimus Prime! The Pokebook 2011 Collector’s Edition, containing all Pokemon info and all Gym leader stats!

Light Touch Projector Keyboard lets you type like a guy from MI6
April 19th, 2011
Alright, this is freaking awesome! Your Star Trek or James Bond projection keyboard dream is turning into reality! This thing is called the Light Touch, an interactive projector that instantly transforms any flat surface into a touchscreen. The gadget adopts the Holographic Laser Projection (HLP) technology, which creates bright, high-quality video images in WVGA resolution. Integrated infrared sensors detect motion and turn the projected image into a 10.1-inch virtual touchscreen. Although the real deal doesn’t seem to be that perfect from what you think, but it’s still a good bump to push our dreams nearer to reality. Samsung’s new Smart Fridge gets WiFi and touchscreen, only thing missing is Android!
April 19th, 2011
Last time fridge that had ice cube counter is considered advance, but now they’re going to be like televisions. People are stuffing LCD screens and even WiFi into a fridge. What de? Facebook on a fridge? Man, I tell you, sneaking to the fridge for a chocolate bar is no longer fun when you see something similar like the memo above. Samsung’s RF4289 is the kind of fridge that nerd heads and geeky mum and dad will want. It’s got WiFi with LED lighting and a frigging 8-inch LCD panel with touchscreen! Playing angry bird on the fridge? Better not. Samsung provides quick access to “kitchen relevant applications” like Google calendar, Weatherbug forecasts, Epicurious recipes, AP news, Pandora music, and Picasa photos. You can also leave notes for the family or tap out a quick tweet should the compulsion arise. The wireless touchscreen is available on both the RSG309 side-by-side and RF4289 four-door french door models, but only the latter has received an end of May US launch date. Just keep in mind that the suggested $3,499 retail price is exactly $500 more expensive than Samsung’s existing 28 cubic foot french door model, the touchscreen-less RF4287. It ain’t cheap to get Angry Bird on your fridge yo! Maybe you can consider sticking an iPad 2 on your existing fridge instead, with the magical Magic Cover. April 19th, 2011
Philips has been in the tee vee industry for nearly a century, and now they’re going to pull out? Yes, you’ve heard right. Philips is going to sell of its famous television arm to a Hong Kong manufacturer TPV Technology. Philips will still retain a 30 percent ownership share and agreeing guaranteed royalty payments of €50 million per year from 2013 onwards. This is due to the company losing €87 million in the first quarter from its HDTV division. All 4,000 Philips employees working under the HDTV umbrella will be transferred over to TPV, though the company says it doesn’t want the “market to misread that [it] intend to lay-off a lot of employees.” TI aims to bring wireless charging to mass with smallest receiver chip to date
April 19th, 2011
Wireless charging has been a technology that we can only dream about, but now it’s getting closer than we can imagine. We’ve seen demos of wireless charging and inductive charging, there are even actual products being sold right now. But wireless charging is about to go mass. Texas Instruments just unveiled its next-generation, Qi-compliant wireless power receiver chip today, which is a full eighty percent smaller than its previous chip. That promises to make it far easier for manufacturers to implement in everything from cellphones to game consoles to digital cameras, and that small size apparently comes without any compromises, with it providing 5W of output power and a 93-percent peak efficiency that’s comparable to an AC adapter. Unfortunately, there’s no hint as to when we might see any actual devices that use the chip, but it shouldn’t be too long, since the complete bq51013 wireless power package is now already available for just $3.50 in quantities of 1,000. White iPhone 4 appears on Three UK, and now it’s gone
April 19th, 2011
Human error or a technical glitch? It seemed that someone in Three UK didn’t get the memo, and posted a page which seems to allow people to pre-order the blessed white iPhone 4 that never really made it to the real world. Of course, the phone that had previously been listed on the carrier’s site for a long, long time (sans any ability to actually order it) has now sprouted up a page all its own with the magical option to “buy now.” Of course, the page is now taken down. However, if you look at the screenshot, it says that the white knight will finally emerge on the 20th of April, which is tomorrow. Will we finally see the mysterious white iPhone 4 finally? April 19th, 2011
We’ve seen plenty of big-time lawsuits, but this has just got to be the biggest shit of all pukes. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple has sued Samsung Electronics for copying “the look and feel” of its iPad tablet and iPhone smartphone. Funny isn’t it, that previously we heard about Apple being the biggest customer of Samsung. Apple’s take is on the Samsung Galaxy S 4G, saying that it bears too much of a passing resemblance to the iPhone 3G/3GS models being patent, and the slightly less obvious Epic 4G, Nexus S, and Galaxy Tab (presumably the older 7-inch model, since the newer ones aren’t out yet) devices. “Rather than innovate and develop its own technology and a unique Samsung style for its smart phone products and computer tablets, Samsung chose to copy Apple’s technology, user interface and innovative style in these infringing products.” The lawsuit was filed in the Northern District of California on Friday and seeks injunctions against Samsung, damages (both actual and punitive), and a finding that the infringement was wilful. Lest we forget, the rarest outcome in such legal tussles is for an actual judgment to actually be handed down, so the greatest likelihood is that this will just lead to another round of grudging handshakes and licensing going one way with money going the other way, but still, it’s fun to see the big dogs barking at each other. SOURCE via Wall Street Journal Samsung to pursue 2GHz dual-core smartphone in 2012, just before the world falls apart
April 19th, 2011
Last time, smartphone’s processor aren’t specified, but now we’re spear-heading towards dual-core SoC ARM processors with energy saving and all those advance technologies. Ready for some crazy news? This year we see plenty of smartphones going dual-core thanks to Nvidia’s Tegra 2 SoC and Qualcomm dual-core Scorpion SoC, and Apple has got their dual-core A5 chip. Now, Samsung is going to set the standard (unless someone comes out with something even faster, like the next quad-core Tegra 3). A ‘high ranking’ company official in Samsung has disclosed the Korean giant’s intention to develop a dual-core smartphone that runs on 2GHz. The madness! That’s 2GHz for each core, not the specious 1GHz multiplied by two those kind of mathematics that Sanjay Jha likes to dabble in. ARM already has a dual-core Cortex-A9 design capable of scaling such speed heights, which is most probably the basis on which Samsung is building its future processor on. The report goes on to state that Samsung will consider selling the chips separately, so you wouldn’t necessarily have to buy a Samsung-branded handset in order to have what’s being described as desktop-class performance in the palm of your hand. Now, what I want to see is HTC going friendly with Samsung and getting their new dual-core chips and Super-AMOLED screens, and incorporate it with HTC’s Sense UI. Now that’s what everyone wants!
