CDMA version iPad 2 having 3G issues, software update coming soon?
April 11th, 2011
It appears that the CDMA version iPad 2 is having issues connecting to Verizon’s 3G network, and Apple Inc. has acknowledged this issue, saying that it’s investigating this CDMA connectivity issue as reported by “a small number of iPad 2 customers,” and word has it that a software patch will be available soon. Are you facing this issue, and rage that you can’t login to your Foursquare and defend your mayorship with your brand new iPad? Well, WiFi is your friend then, though we’ve heard that the new iPad’s WiFi is not that strong either. SOURCE via All Things D Samsung to release two Bada 2.0 handsets with NFC in summer?
April 11th, 2011
Samsung is said to be launching a new Wave 578 with the Bada 1.1 OS this coming May or June for the international market. However, sad news for those of you that’s waiting anxiously for this new handset will be disappointed that there’s actually a Bada 2.0 OS and your new Wave 578 won’t be getting it. A Russian blog Bada World claims to have obtained some juicy details that’ll cheer up Bada fanatics. The above slide — apparently sourced from a Samsung France conference from a few days ago — lists a pair of new but unnamed handsets that’ll pack the new software, along with 7.2Mbps HSDPA, Bluetooth 3.0, and the seemingly trendsetting NFC. But how about the difference between these two phones? Well, one of them appears to be the flagship Bada 2.0 model, which expects a September launch with a 3.65-inch HVGA display, a 5 megapixel main camera, plus a VGA secondary camera. The second device will follow a month later, sporting a smaller 3.14-inch QVGA screen and just a 3 megapixel imager. SOURCE via Bada World Google acquires PushLife, Android music streaming inevitable
April 11th, 2011
Google’s music stream to Android handsets has been teased and leaked, but till now there’s still no sight of its launching ever since Google introduces it over at Google I/O last year. But now it seemed that Google will be getting a big step further into this act as the search engine giant has acquired mobile entertainment company PushLife, which has been developing a music app of its own for the Android and BlackBerry platforms. Now, why will PushLife affect Google’s cloud-based music streaming service? Well, currently PushLife offers one-click purchases from an integrated music store, an overview of tunes you have both on your smartphone and on your computer (with the ability to access both sets on the phone), and automatic playlist syncing with iTunes or Windows Media Player libraries. There’s even more fanciness, such as recommendations based on the song you’re playing, artists bios and photo galleries, plus Twitter and Facebook integration. This will definitely spear head Google’s Android music streaming service. The Canadian startup is believed to have cashed in to the tune of $25 million and will soon be shutting down its independent operations. What’s more Google I/O 2011 is approaching, so will we see a new announcement by then? New Symbian UI appeared in new Symbian phones, video now private
April 11th, 2011
Nokia’s about to hold a Symbian-related event in London in a few days’ time, but it seemed that there are already leaked Symbian news on the net right now, which probably can be directly related to that particular event. A new Symbian UI has appeared in promotional videos alongside the sleek X7 and stylish E6 that’s about to hit the market, just before the new Nokia with Windows Phone 7 arrive in 2012. Unfortunately, all three such videos are listed as private now, but Engadget managed to nab one right before it got canned, demoing an improved Symbian with smooth scrolling that follows one’s finger, a browser purportedly three times faster and a portrait QWERTY keyboard — yes — all courtesy of a Three UK representative. It seemed that most news from Japan these days are considered bad news, and here’s another one today. Sony Ericsson had their Xperia Android phones lineup for April launch, and though it’s already available in limited quantities, the Japanese company has pushed its Xperia Neo handset launch to at least July. The cause of this is non-other than supply shortage for parts due to the Japanese quake disaster. Additionally, the Xperia Arc and Play devices, two other members of the company’s new Android Gingerbread family, will be available in smaller volume than expected, at least for the near term. This should well explain why the Xperia Play failed to reach some UK carriers in time for its April 1st launch date. As Sony Ericsson continues to assess the impact of the situation in Japan on its business, we have communicated to our operator customers and distributors that some volume of Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY and Xperia neo phones has been affected. Xperia neo has already been introduced to the marketplace in limited quantities. However, due to supply chain disruptions resulting from the situation in Japan, we have shifted the timing of Xperianeo’s broader launch and it is now planned for early Q3. We will address this topic at the time of our Q1 financial results announcement call that is scheduled for April 19, 2011. April 9th, 2011
Today’s a sad day for owners of Windows Phone 7. After Microsoft had a chat with the developer of ChevronWP7, that tool has been pulled offline. But that’s not all. It seems that anyone who used it to update their WP7 handsets to NoDo may now be in a bit of a bind. According to Microsoft those phones may not be able to receive any future updates — forever. So if you still have your ChevronWP7 and updated to NoDo, well Microsoft hopes that you’ll like that copy and paste. SOURCE via Microsoft’s Warning San Francisco to Paris in 2 minutes

Here’s a very awesome video made by Boltron. It’s a combined video of 2,459 photos taken by him during his flight in Air France from San Francisco to Paris. He took a shot roughly every 2 miles, using a time-lapse controller. The camera is a Canon EOS 5DMarkII with a 16mm-35mm lens. If you though that why there’s aurora during his flight, well the flight isn’t a very direct west-to-east flight, but instead they took a shorter route to the north pole and come back. Geography stuff. But it’s still a very cool video. Check it out. D-Link announce new ShareCenter NAS
April 9th, 2011
NAS are getting very handy these days, as we can have access to our data regardless of any device that we’re using right now. D-Link has announced two new ShareCenter NAS servers, and they are the DNS-320 and DNS-325. These new NAS servers get some speed bumps in contrast with the older models. Both pack dual SATA 3.5-inch drive bays for up to 4TB of total storage, a single USB 2.0 port, RAID support, integrated P2P, gigabit Ethernet, and a built in web file-server app. It’s a rather disappointment that they don’t include any iOS or Android apps, and there’s no support for USB 3.0 or even Thunderbolt. Thankfully these are DLNA-certified. Available now, the $110 DNS-320′s got an 800MHz processor and 128MB of RAM, while those willing to top up to $200 for the DNS-325 get 1.2GHz silicon, 256MB of memory, photo gallery and audio streaming apps, plus the ability to host your blog directly from the device. Yes, hosting your own blog by using the built-in DYNDNS.org function. If you want a 1TB drive pre-installed, prices jump to $200 for the DNS-320 and $280 for the DNS-325 when they drop next month.
