PlayStation Network to return to Asia starting tomorrow

Finally, good news for us in Asia. Sony has announced that it will restore its gaming network across the continent of Asia starting tomorrow, more than a month after its massive gaming network got invaded by unknown parties that ‘possibly’ stolen quite a number of critical customer information.
Tomorrow we will see Sony flipping the switch back once again in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and even Japan, which had been harbouring serious reservations about the network’s security and having its security being criticized by its government. Previously the Japanese government halted Sony’s attempt to flip back the switch in its own country due to lack of confidence, so perhaps Sony has managed to talk them into the situation, though Sony did not comment on this.
Gamers in South Korea and Hong Kong, meanwhile, will have to wait a little longer before returning to normalcy, though Sony is hoping to completely resolve the issue by the end of the month, which is next week.
The company certainly seems eager to put this saga to bed, and for understandable reasons. The incident has already cost Sony an estimated $171 million in revenue — not to mention the untold numbers of suddenly wary consumers. Microsoft should be seeing a spike in its Xbox Live member signups this quarter.
