Why are manufacturers developing tiny 7-inch tablets? I don’t get the point. It’s bloody small and you can’t do much with that puny screen. Even Samsung jumped away from their 7-inch tablet to the awesome 10-inch tablet.
Fujitsu is going to join the likes of HTC and Samsung, as the company is scheduled to bring forth a 7-inch Android tablet to the market during the third quarter of this year. What’s more it’ll be coming stock with Android 3.1 Honeycomb OS.
DigiTimes also mentioned that it’s going to be ‘affordable’, as rumoured price is around $350, but it may also rose up to $700. What a bummer. Anyway, we’ll have to wait until fall to see if this is true. More tablets on the way!

Hate to be among the zillions of iPhone zombies, or the nerdy Android tards? Don’t want to get caught using a dying Symbian? How about changing to something slightly refreshing? Yes, we’re talking about WebOS! Amazon Germany has added the webOS 2.2 QWERTY slider from HP, the Pre 3 smartphone, into their inventory list, and it’s up for pre-order. That’s €449 ($640) please!
This is the 3.6-inch smartphone announced in February, which comes with a WVGA (800 x 480) resolution, a 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8x55 processor, 512MB of RAM, and a pair of cameras, the rear of which can record 720p video and 5 megapixel stills.
Though Amazon has listed it for pre-order, there’s no mention when it’ll actually be shipped.

Sony has been having lots of problems in this year, starting with the battle with Geo Hotz, and then being targeted by Anonymous which stands on Geo Hotz’s side. Earlier this month we see their PSN online system being taken down due to a breach by unknown hackers that may have obtained all information of PSN users. Now, the website of Sony is hosting phishing items that might be scams.
F-Secure reported that they found a phishing site running under hdworld.sony.co.th. Sony’s website should be all about Sony’s products right? What’s more the prefix ‘hdworld’ should be related to Sony’s HDTV products. However, the site is instead showing something from an Italian credit card company. The lady looks so happy to scam you… do you want to eat the bait?
This clearly means that Sony’s website and server has been hacked, although this should not be linked to the PSN issue. Sony has been notified, and the site is already taken down. The URL now leads to a legit Sony site.
In related news, a new phishing campaign has been working the round in the Twitter universe, telling people to reset their PSN password.

Ever since Apple made a jump to use Intel’s processors, things started to look good for Intel. But their friendship isn’t just client-based like how the rest of the manufacturers, as you look at how Apple was part of Intel’s development of their Light Peak, which is now known as Thunderbolt.
Now Intel has stepped things up and praises this relationship. Tom Kilroy, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Intel’s Sales and Marketing Group told a Reuter’s tech summit that Apple isn’t just important to the company’s plans, it actually “helps shape [Intel's] roadmap.” Now that’s some strong words coming from the world’s biggest processor maker, one that you wouldn’t expect to be obliged to any hardware or software partners.
What’s more, this came as the same week that Intel mentioned Microsoft’s Windows 8 had con points, and Microsoft stepped up to refute things, which make the traditional WinTel bond beginning to somehow get unstable.

Earlier this week Intel SVP Renee James mentioned that legacy x86 programs won’t be able to run on the ARM architecture of Windows 8, and requiring a re-write for developers and probably a re-purchase for users. Also, he mentioned that each of the four hardware suppliers for Windows 8 systems-on-chip will have a different code stack, incompatible with the rest, something that sounded slightly absurd to me thought.
Now, Microsoft has stepped up to clarify things, well almost. Microsoft’s statement goes by saying that Intel’s say were “factually inaccurate and unfortunately misleading”. However, the statement stopped there, making us wonder which is actually inaccurate, and which is actually misleading.
The legacy app incompatible part, the reprogramming part, the repurchase part, or the four hard suppliers with different code stack part. The Redmond team had nothing more to say on the matter, offering only a reminder that Windows 8 is still at the tech demo stage and there’s still a long way to go.
Yup, they can change anything at this stage, so I kind of trust them on this.

It’s a good thing that In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels are getting more popular and ‘slightly’ more affordable due to mass production. We’ve had enough with the awful TN with terrible color and viewing angles, but now we’re looking forward to even better stuff, and that is Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching (AH-IPS) displays, and the first is coming from LG.
LG has just demoed their AH-IPS displays at the SID 2011, and boy it does seemed awesome. What’s more awesome is that the AH-IPS can be developed on almost any size, as LG demonstrated a full fledge of display ranging from petite 3.5-inch to humongous 84-inch displays, all using AH-IPS technology.
Of course, things are still looking very early right now, so there’s no telling when AH-IPS will be mass produced for commercial products. So stay tuned!

There are already systems that will scream at you when you doze off while driving, or will shut down the car when you’re overly dozed with alcohol. But Ford wants more than just that. The advance system in new cars can already detect issues with your car’s health, but now Ford wants a system to monitor YOUR health!
Ford is using its Sync technology to research ways to make sure you stay healthy while you’re driving. In conjunction with medical professionals, Ford is developing monitoring services and applications for drivers who might suffer from chronic illnesses that range from diabetes to allergies.
Bluetooth, cloud services and Ford apps can work together with medical devices and services, keeping you abreast of a multitude of important health-related information. Ford hopes to provide glucose monitoring services, alerts for allergy sufferers and a connection to the WellDoc platform.
Ford is hoping to go even deeper into the realm of health monitoring and information. The automaker believes that it’s not far from having the ability to bring the allergy alerts and glucose monitoring systems to production vehicles.
Down the road, Ford hopes to offer systems that monitor the driver’s heart rate and stress levels. That information would be useful for the automaker to determine how to make driving a less stressful event.

I’ve always loved to play the racing game DiRT from Codemasters, as they provide more arcade-like fun unlike those serious racing sim like GT5 and Shift. Now that DiRT 3 is coming very soon, things are going to be fun again. We’ve seen plenty of Ken Block actions in DiRT 2, and we already know that Block’s Gymkhana will be featured in the coming-soon DiRT 3, and now the launch of the game is getting even more fun, as Block and Codemasters have made a new drift video for the launch.
Watch Block as he hops behind the wheel of the Ford Focus Rally car at London’s Battersea Power Station, the same place he took a bikini model from Zoo Magazine for a ride. As always, Block traverses some keenly placed obstacles whilst drifting and doing donuts all the way. As a special sendoff to DiRT 3, Block also drifts through a series of stacked DiRT 3 boxes. Hopefully it’s empty inside.
