Sharp shows off the world’s first Super Hi-Vision LCD
May 20th, 2011
Step aside 1080p, here’s something 16 times more superior than you!
Full HD is all over the place by now, so perhaps we should look into the future. Yes, there’s something even bigger and better then 1080p Full HD, and that’s called Super Hi-Vision. It’s something that NHK of Japan has been developing for years as a successor to HDTV. Super Hi-Vision has an insane resolution of 7,680 x 4,320, but we never actually see a functional prototype, until now. Sharp has just shown off its latest prototype, which is an 85-inch Direct View LCD-compatible screen with support for Super Hi-Vision. Yes, it’s insanely big, and insanely beautiful, as the thing has 103 pixels per inch (ppi) density. Compared to current day’s 60-inch 1080p HDTV that has only 36ppi, it’s very superior, but there are actually prototypes that’s more superior to this baby from Sharp actually, but they all come in smaller size of course. The display is said to be able to support 33-Megapixel video and 22.2 channel sound, and is said to arrive some time in 2020, commercially. However, Sharp is said to have interest in demonstrating this during the 2012 Olympics. Sony PlayStation Store will be back next Tuesday

Yes your PSN is back online, thought mine still isn’t. But there’s one more thing that didn’t come online together with PSN, and that is the PlayStation Store. According to Gamasutra, who managed to get hold of a memo reportedly sent by Sony to its publishing partners and developers, the store is set to be back online on Tuesday, May 24th. Of course, that’s assuming that Sony won’t be having any more unforeseen hiccups along the way that is. Hopefully by then there will be new games and other content, which supposedly should be released by now, though we expect Sony to release them in stages instead, not one lump sum. May 20th, 2011
Verizon’s iPhone 4 is slightly different than the normal iPhone 4 that we come to know and love, as the button placements have slightly different dimension, making it hard to find cases at times. All these while the Mophie Juice Pack Plus can house the CDMA iPhone 4 from Verizon, but it isn’t a perfect fit. But now that awkward fitting is gone, as the 2000mAh Juice Pack Plus is compatible with both ‘versions’ of the iPhone 4, giving users up to eight more hours of talk time and a few extra millimetres of thickness. Of course, it ain’t going to be cheap though, as Mophie is asking for around $100. The rubberized charging case is available in black, cyan, magenta, yellow, and a limited edition purple, of which only 2,000 were made. Well, probably because they thought Verizon didn’t sold many CDMA iPhone 4, but last we heard, they sold millions of them. Dell didn’t have a great success with its 5-inch Streak. I mean, come on, the 7-inch Galaxy Tab is already very small, what more a 5-inch tablet! You can see peanut on that tiny ‘gorilla’ screen. But Dell isn’t giving up. Nope, they know a 5-inch won’t work, and by looking around left and right, they’re pretty sure which one’s the correct size. Yeap, let’s double up the size! A 10-inch Streak and they call it a Streak Pro… Yes, Dell is now working on a 10-inch Honeycomb tablet. Well, specs are pretty much common these days. You’ve got the usual Nvidia Tegra 2 SOC, and a very decent 1280 x 800 resolution. Apparently the Streak Pro would be powered by the T20 Tegra 2 chip, not the T25 Tegra 2 chip. The latter comes with 1.2GHz and offers 3D support. Sounds disappointing don’t it? Still, the Streak Pro will apparently come will a brushed aluminum back, 16GB, 32GB, or 64GB storage options, dual mics, dual cameras (2 megapixel on the front, 5 megapixel ’round back), and a choice of four colors: blue, pink, black, and red, something better than all the Honeycomb tablets out there that has no color options. Of course, the Android won’t be stock, as Dell will be adding its Stage UI atop of the Android system. Dell also did mention that there’s a possibility that the Streak Pro will support LTE connectivity. The Streak Pro is expected to arrive at June. Analog film photography has ‘almost’ died when digital camera and DSLR arrived, but now the resurrection is in progress. Fans of the awesome Lomo Photography, please welcome the brand new Lomo LC-Wide camera! The new camera sports a 17mm Minigon Ultra-Wide Angle lens, and can shoot on pretty much any type of 35mm film. There are also a full range of effects to choose from: full, square, half-format shots, multiple exposures, and it even has a close-up focus distance of just 0.4 meters with auto exposure, zone-based focusing, and a maximum shutter speed of 1/500, which isn’t bad at all. Lomo fans will find this camera at a RRP of $390. The funny magician around here, JoJo is already saving up for this baby. This is probably the coolest Eye of Sauron cosplay EVER!!!
