Samsung Galaxy S II is very faster after overclock, pawns benchmark like nothing
May 14th, 2011
Samsung’s new flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S II, comes with a 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos 4210 SOC developed by Samsung itself (for some continents only mind you), but do you know that this piece of SOC has a very good potential to shine? Some folks went insane after getting this still-limited and most powerful smartphone in the market, and overclocked it. A dude called coolbho3000 over at the xda-developers forum has wank up the speed of that piece of Exynos 4210 up to 1.5GHz. He’s been nice enough to provide the source code and instructions necessary to reproduce this stable overclock on your Galaxy S II, and has also provided a video of the GSII romping through Quadrant and Linpack like nothing. Netflix releases Android app for select HTC phones, Samsung Nexus S
May 14th, 2011
Surprise, surprise. Netflix has whipped out a dedicated app for the HTC Incredible, Nexus One, Evo 4G, and G2, plus the Samsung Nexus S, and they are now available in the Android Market. Nothing new here actually, as you can resume watching where you left off on your TV or computer, and the app will allow you to manage your instant queue in addition to letting you simply browse movies. Netflix explains that while the app is currently limited to phones with “requisite playback support,” it anticipates that many of the “technical challenges will be resolved in the coming months,” and that it will be able to “provide a Netflix application that will work on a large majority of Android phones.” Also, to Apple fans, the Netflix app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch now supports subtitles, because the Al-Qaeda member requested. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos didn’t shoot down the rumour of the Samsung-built tablet immediately, but the founder of the renowned e-tailer only said “stay tuned”, which is such a teaser. That was his comment when interviewed by Consumer Reports. He also mentioned that if such a device were on the way, it would be complementary to Amazon’s existing Kindle, as Bezos doesn’t want to disturb the market for that “dedicated reading device.” On another related story, Mr Jeff Bezos also mentioned that a color version of its E Ink Kindle e-reader “is not ready for prime time”. Probably not now, but maybe next year? SOURCE via Consumer Reports Flexbook concept looks like a candy-colored tablet-laptop combo
May 14th, 2011
Is the tri-fold concept really coming? It seemed so. The idea started way back in 2006 when Fujitsu’s R&D envisioned it but doesn’t seem practical back then, but fast forward 5 years later and we’re seeing the tri-fold concept being brought back again this year. “Life with Future Computing Award” saw the return of the tri-fold concept this year. The Flexbook, designed by Hao-Chun Huang, features a foldable 21:9 touchscreen and similarly flexible keyboard that allow its users to switch from laptop to tablet to book-like e-reader. It’s also been designed to sport a number of interchangeable sleeves in a Benetton-esque array of colors and patterns. Back five years ago things might be impractical with the technology, but with compact ARM processors that don’t need dedicated cooling, and with chips getting smaller than ever, and even LCD screens that can be folded, the Flexbook seemed to be possible yet again. Watch the white bull Aventador slides around on wet tarmac
May 14th, 2011
Somehow I can’t get enough of the lovely yet devilish new bull from Sant’Agata, and this time Autocar.com has present to us a lovely video of the bull, this time in white, drifting in the wet tarmac. Steve Sutcliffe of Autocar secured some time with the Aventador for a review, and despite the rain, has put together an informative video review, which is very much filled with wet-weather drifts, and some mouthful howl from that 6.5-liter V12 monster. 3 million Galaxy S II pre-ordered globally by mobile carrier
May 14th, 2011
Yet again, reports have surfaced that Samsung’s brand new dual-core Gingerbread phone, the Galaxy S II, will be a superstar in the Android smartphone market. Samsung has announced that mobile carriers globally have pre-ordered Galaxy S II in excess of 3 million units, making it one of the highest pre-orders for Samsung. As known earlier, Samsung plans to release the latest Android flagship in over 120 countries via 140 mobile operators. Galaxy S II is already on sale in South Korea and UK and is expected to reach many more countries this month. The Galaxy S II runs on Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread OS and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos SOC made by Samsung (or an Nvidia Tegra 2 dual-core SOC for some market), 4.3-inch Super AMOLED-2 display, 8MP camera with 1080p video recording and playback, GPS, Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi Direct support, Bluetooth 3.0 etc. SOURCE via Samsung Hub A never-ending rope climbing machine
May 14th, 2011
It’s called the Mt EverClimb Continuous Climbing Rope, probably to mimic the Mount Everest. It’s nowhere taller than two-and-a-half-men, but I’m pretty sure you’ll find this thing taller than the Mount Everest when you climb it. The name says it all, it’s a rope climbing exercise machine that will let you climb endlessly. But when will you know if you’re done? Well, when you lost all your energy climbing and bang to the floor, or when your hand gets sucked up into the machine and crunched into crumbs when you stopped climbing. This stupid machine will cost you a staggering $8,000, but you’re buying a mountain that’s taller than Everest mind you. Thought I’m sure you can DIY one for yourself very easily, using your younger brother on a bicycle attached to a rope that is. SOURCE via Mt Everclimb |
