May 14th, 2011
Lately all our Modern Warfare leaks are mostly sourced from Kotaku, and this latest flick from them just shows that Kotaku might be the developer itself. Alright, jokes aside, let’s dive in and see the details of this possible “biggest game of 2011” title. Kotaku has information on almost everything about Modern Warfare 3, from the locations and characters of the single player campaign to the precise number of maps in the multiplayer mode.
The single player campaign will be set across 15 missions. It will pick up where Modern Warfare 2 left off with the invasion of Manhattan by Russian forces. As with previous Modern Warfare titles the campaign will skip between many different locations across the world, and have you playing as a number of different characters, not all of whom will survive, just like its predecessor. Locations include Manhattan, the catacombs of Paris, India and Dubai. You’ll be playing as a Russian Federal Protective Services agent, an SAS Operative and a tank gunner. We can also look forward to the return of the AC-130 gunship from previous Modern Warfare titles. The multiplayer mode will contain 20 maps, though it’s not certain at the moment how many of these will be in the game on launch, and how many will be released as map packs after launch. The excellent co-op Spec Ops mode of Modern Warfare 2 will make a return as well, and will be split into “survival” and “mission” modes. Five survival maps and seven mission maps are listed, some of which may be cut or altered before release. Diablo 3: Official Followers trailer
May 14th, 2011
Diablo 3 has been development for ages, and we’re hearing a release either the end of this year, or early next year. Well, I won’t be surprised if the game’s actually done. They’re Blizzard after all. For a top notch game released in 2011/2012, the graphics sure looks unimpressive, but well it’s Blizzard, so… yeah whatever. Anyway, Blizzard has a new trailer for Diablo 3 fans. It’s about the followers, which means your sidekick that you can recruit while raiding dungeons and killing minions and slapping Diablo. There are three classes, the Enchantress (magi-blaster), The Scoundrel (dashing arrow-shooter) and the Templar (wide man, big hammer). The video shows that Followers cam be levelled up and equipped with different weapons, rings and amulets. As an added bonus, we get our first look at the male Demon Hunter at about a minute in. I’m not sure if they’re considered mercenaries as Blizzard didn’t mention if you need gold to hire them, or they voluntarily join you to fight ‘till death do us apart’. Sadly though, there’s no Sato/Jay Chou to hire with awesome black car loaded with gattling guns. The recent Activision Blizzard earnings call revealed that there will be a Diablo 3 beta later this year. There’s still no firm release date. Multitouch in the air, like Minority Report?
May 13th, 2011
We’ve seen multitouch gestures on smartphones and tablets, and they require glass panels that are compatible. But what if we can have multitouch on almost anything, even air, making it possible at everywhere? A group of students from Texas A&M intend to do just that, with the invention of ZeroTouch. It’s a seemingly empty picture frame that lets you turn any surface into an interactive touchscreen. It might not look like much, but ZeroTouch is packing a series of pulsing LEDs and infrared sensors that turn that blank space into a highly sensitive surface. Basically, the strategically placed LEDs cover the open area in a sheet of invisible light, or spidey web threads. When a hand or stylus enters the picture (or lack thereof), those beams are interrupted, providing cues to a piece of software that tracks the object’s movement — and Walla, touchscreen on the air. Of course, this won’t be around for quite some time, but this makes Tom Cruise’s Minority Report stunt very doable. Flash Player 10.3 finally arrives with lots of bug fixes

May 13th, 2011
One thing I realize about Windows 7 tablets, is that they are powered by the infamous Intel Atom processor, and they are plain bulky and ugly. Here’s another example, the new Windows 7 tablet from NEC, which will be launched very soon in Japan. It’s powered by a ‘fast’ 1.5GHz Oak Trail Atom Z670 processor, the NEC VersaPro VK15V/TM-C features the Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 32Bit, a 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 64GB of Solid State Drive (SSD), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, HDMI, an SDHC card slot and a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) display screen. There’s no word on pricing yet, but it’s coming in June for the Japanese market. But still the sales of these will be measly compared to those Android tablets; what’s more crumbs compared to Apple’s iPad 2 sales, so why are companies still manufacturing Windows tablets? May 13th, 2011
Well Google mentioned that Honeycomb tablets will get an Android 3.1 update in the summer, and it seemed that the Revue Google TV box from Logitech will also get the same update, besides an Android Market update. This is an important update for the dull Google TV as it’ll greatly boost the market for this platform. Developers will soon be able to develop apps for tablets and Google TV using the same SDK. All Logitech Revue Google TV boxes will automatically get this over-the-air update when it becomes available later this summer. Fancy a double-edge laser sabre like the one used by the Sith? It’s time to join the force! Wicked Lasers is back with the new Sith Series handheld laser. Known as the world’s first double handed laser, the gadget features a couple of Class 4 1-watt Spyder 3 lasers. This handheld laser may look like a futuristic weapon, but attempting to play or duel with a pair of Class 4 burning lasers will result in permanent blindness to anyone exposed to the Sith’s Dual Laser beams or reflections. The Sith Series double handed laser is now available at Wicked Lasers’ website for $599.95. Right, nobody said that being a Star Wars fan is cheap. SOURCE via Wicked Lasers |
