Lenovo IdeaPad K1 tablet hits some online retailers, launch just around the corner?
May 28th, 2011
Lenovo is said to be launching their Android-based IdeaPad K1 tablet very soon, as the tablet has hit the FCC under the name “K1” not so long ago. What’s more, it’s now listed on Buy.com, complete with specs and some pictures. But Lenovo is still mummed on this, which is odd. Anyway, let’s take a look at the Android tablet from Lenovo. It’s a 10-inch tablet powered by the usual Nvidia Tegra 2 processor (which is different from the LePad that had Snapdragon), with 32GB of storage, dual cameras (5 megapixel rear and 2 megapixel front-facing), a microSD card slot, a micro HDMI out, and even a SIM card slot, which means that there’s 3G in it. It’s said that Netflix is also pre-installed. The tablet is said to be coming with Android 3.1, though it’s something unconfirmed at the moment, as the site also mentioned about it coming with Android 3.0, making us quite skeptical with the specs around here. Well it’s not surprised, as Buy.com didn’t dare to list the price of the tablet anyway. ZiiLabs unveils Jaguar family of Honeycomb tablets powered by dual-core and quad-core
May 28th, 2011
Here’s a new tablet from ZiiLabs for their new Jaguar Honeycomb tablets, developed for the OEM market. Actually, make that two. The company has designed two Honeycomb slates, one with a seven-inch, 1024×600 LCD and another with a ten-inch 1280×800 display. Unlike their ZiiO predecessors, these 64GB siamese twins call for both capacitive and resistive touchscreen capabilities, support OpenGL ES 2.0 3D graphics and, as you can see in the image above, feature front- and rear-facing five-megapixel cameras. But what’s more important here is that there’s a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 ZMS-20 or quad-core ZMS-40 helping them plays with the rest of the kids, both clocking in at 1.5 GHz. Impressive right? Well they won’t be here yet, so the other big boys might be able to catch up real soon. The two Jaguars will be showcased at next week’s Computex tradeshow in Taiwan. Finally, good news for us in Asia. Sony has announced that it will restore its gaming network across the continent of Asia starting tomorrow, more than a month after its massive gaming network got invaded by unknown parties that ‘possibly’ stolen quite a number of critical customer information. Tomorrow we will see Sony flipping the switch back once again in Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and even Japan, which had been harbouring serious reservations about the network’s security and having its security being criticized by its government. Previously the Japanese government halted Sony’s attempt to flip back the switch in its own country due to lack of confidence, so perhaps Sony has managed to talk them into the situation, though Sony did not comment on this. Gamers in South Korea and Hong Kong, meanwhile, will have to wait a little longer before returning to normalcy, though Sony is hoping to completely resolve the issue by the end of the month, which is next week. The company certainly seems eager to put this saga to bed, and for understandable reasons. The incident has already cost Sony an estimated $171 million in revenue — not to mention the untold numbers of suddenly wary consumers. Microsoft should be seeing a spike in its Xbox Live member signups this quarter. SOURCE via Bloomberg Imagine a world where everything is powered by petrol

Can you imagine that? Well hopefully the videos below will help to stimulate your creativity. For some big machinery, twisting the key will actually start the machine, but for others, you may need to pull the trigger to start the engine of the thing, if it’s powered by a super miniature combustion engine. That’s the world where everything is powered by petrol. And you thought it’s not as ridiculous as you may imagine, but let’s not forget that combustion engines releases toxic carbon smokes, so yes it’s mayhem to even imagine. Renault-Nissan has kicked off a massive advertising campaign intended to highlight the advanced technology of electric vehicles with the debut of a pair of videos that bang home the point that consumers depend upon electricity to power items used everyday and that using gasoline is, in some instances, utterly ridiculous. Don’t want to lose out to those DSLR-fags that use auto-mode on their Canon 7D with 50mm f1.4 L lens, but also don’t want to be caught using a DSLR and get classes the same as them? Well, here’s something that will put you out of the league from those low class cool cats. Let us welcome the 200-Megapixel Hasselblad HD4-200MS! This latest piece of kit is nearly identical to the 50 megapixel H4D-50MS externally, but is squeezed with some magical dust to have an additional astonishing 150 more megapixels to the sensor — yes, that’s an astounding 200 megapixels! Cannot brain? Me too. Get five of those and you’ll be on your way to making your own personal Gigapixel photo in one shot!
The new 200MS combines six shots to create ridiculously detailed 200 megapixel still images, and it handles less intensive photos with a four-shot 50 megapixel still mode. If you need to move out of the studio and take quick shots of birdies, there’s a 50 megapixel single-shot live mode for quick shots as well. Then again, the price is still too mind-boggling. May 27th, 2011
Kingmax has just announced the world’s first 64GB microSDXC card, which we expect to be short-lived as usual. Kingmax used to announce lots of products that “break records”, like the world’s smallest thumb drive for example. Then again, do note that only a handful of devices currently have the architecture means to support microSD cards bigger than 32GB. If you’ve notice, almost all smartphones that have microSD cards will only support up to a maximum of 32GB, so do take note before rushing to buy this card hoping that you could store even longer mp4 scandal videos. May 27th, 2011
Yes, here it is, the NFC payment system from Google, the Google Wallet mobile payment service, is finally official. Those retailers and financial partners that will be participating in Google Wallet system is Subway, Macy’s, Walgreens, Toys ‘R Us, First Data, Citibank and MasterCard — plus Sprint on the carrier side. Google Wallet will be fully compatible with the PayPass MasterCard feature from MasterCard, so this service will be a much welcome one indeed since it’s already well-established and widely available. Trials are beginning immediately in New York and San Francisco, with a full release planned for this summer. Initially, the Sprint Nexus S 4G will be the only compatible phone, but support for more phones is promised “over time,” and Google even suggested that phones without built-in NFC could simply use an NFC sticker (the Google Wallet app itself will work on non-NFC phones as well). You’ll also have to use either a Citi MasterCard or Google Prepaid Card with the service, although the latter can obviously be top-up from any other card easily. There’s also another feature announced by Google and that is Google Offers, which will send you an “offer of the day” to your inbox every single day, which is of course only valid for Google Wallet. You’ll be able to both redeem offers and receive loyalty rewards from retailers with just a tap of your NFC-enabled phone. All these will be available in the US only for now, but Google is apparently working on international expansion. SOURCE via Google |
