Minecraft coming to Xperia Play!
May 27th, 2011
Minecraft has been gaining momentum lately and becoming quite popular, but not as popular as the raging birdies which are available in almost any platform. But if you want to be the first among your peer to look cool and playing Minecraft, then you’ll have to get yourself a Sony Ericson Xperia Play. The block-building game where cubed avatars hide from creepers and create virtual CPUs will land on the so-called PlayStation Phone before coming to other Android devices and iOS later this year. The Play version will have customized controls that take advantage of the gamepad and button layout found on the Sony Ericsson handheld (too bad other Android phones, no point hacking), though when exactly it will launch or how much it will cost is still unknown. There are very little details about Minecraft invading the mobile platform, but rest assure more information will be made known, as the developer Mojang will be holding an event at E3 to announce this. Samsung’s AF315 All-in-One 3D PC is sleek yet sophisticated, targeted for ladies
May 27th, 2011
When it comes to ladies and computers, they usually can’t mix and mingle well, except for the few rare Pokémon. Samsung has announced a new AF315 All-in-One PC, and oddly they openly announced that the product is targeting stylish and sophisticated women who’ve moved on from their pink peddle pusher ways. The most notable features are that big 23-inch LCD coupled with Samsung’s switchable active shutter 2D / 3D technology and narrow 11-mm bezel. Other specs are like a Core i5 CPU, 1TB 7200RPM hard disk, USB 3.0, TV receiver, Blu-ray player, remote control, 3D glasses, and a wireless keyboard and mouse combo in the box. Looks notably decent spec-ed for a computer for ladies, but perhaps it’s the lines and cues that will work to get the ladies buying them, as this all-in-one PC is now available in Korea for 2.19 million Korean won. Perhaps Samsung is hoping that this will attract ladies that like the Apple iMac looks but don’t like Mac OS X? I’m not sure, but I’m very interested in the lady above. May 27th, 2011
Apple’s WWDC 2011 is coming this 6th of June, but there is still some time to talk about Apple’s iCloud cloud-music-streaming service. So let’s take a look at what we’ve come to know (accurate or not) thus far, before the mighty messiah of Apple takes on the stage. It is said that Apple will scan customer’s iTunes libraries and quickly mirror the contents on Apple’s own servers, which means that there shouldn’t be much data-transferring here, which is good news for those with slow internet connection. Oddly, it is said that Apple will also “replace” your low bitrate tracks with higher quality versions it stores in its fully licensed music locker for streaming to your connected devices, which sound rather skeptical. Of course, this won’t be free. Ah ha! The cost of such service is still unclear thus far, but this service is said to most-probably be integrated into Apple’s MobileMe service (now taken down), which is also “rumoured” to return as a free service “soon”. So, the speculation here is that MobileMe may actually return with a $99 cost, but will include this subscription service “for free”, aka an $8.25 per month music subscription. So, are you excited about Apple’s upcoming cloud-storage music streaming service? SOURCE via Businessweek Polaroid GL10 Instant Printer will print from your camera, your phone, and your computer!
May 27th, 2011
All these while a small group of people have been searching for portable printers for people that travels or move around a lot, but there have been none. Most of them are huge and bulky, not mentioning those multifunction printers that are a dread to carry around due to their massiveness. But now there seem to be a new product that will solve this issue. The new Polaroid GL10 instant printer is your ideal lightweight printer. The lightweight printer works from most mobile phones wirelessly via Bluetooth and also support most digital cameras, Windows PCs and Macs via a USB cable, so you don’t have to worry about no support. The gadget provides the classic Polaroid instant experience using the ZINK technology, which embeds color into the paper without the need for ink cartridges or ribbons. The GL10 features a small size, intuitive design and easy-to-use feature set that produces high quality 3” x 4” full color photos in about 45 seconds. The pocket-sized Polaroid GL10 is powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery and a full charge can produce 35 prints. Additionally, this photo printer also supports printing from Blackberry, Android and Windows compatible phones via Polaroid applications (sorry iOS users). The Polaroid GL10 instant photo printer is currently available for pre-order for $170 a pop. The gadget will be released in June 2011. No mention about price of ink cartridge thought. May 27th, 2011
Are you out for some mid-range graphic card shopping to replace your aging GeForce card? If you are, then I seriously recommend you to consider this card. To celebrate the upcoming release of Duke Nukem Forever video game (you know, the one that took 14 years to develop), EVGA has announced a special edition graphics card bundle called the GeForce GTX 560 – Duke’s Fully Loaded Package. Yes, the package consists of a Duke Nukem-themed Geforce GTX 560 1GB graphics card, a copy of Duke Nukem Forever, a custom mousepad, a belt buckle and an artbook. The GeForce GTX 560 – Duke’s Fully Loaded Package is now available for pre-order for $244.99, which is just slightly more than the MSRP of the vanilla card, which is totally a bargain for me, considering you’re getting the ‘most kickass’ game of the decade. May 27th, 2011
These days SSD may not come in 2.5-inch drive form already, as we’ve seen OCZ Revo PCI-Express SSD before. But now there’s also another new company that’s joining the PCI-Express SSD bandwagon, and that’s Mach Xtreme Technology. Mach Xtreme Technology has just unveiled a new series of low-profile SSD modules, the MX-Katana. Coming in four different capacities: 60GB, 120GB, 240GB and 480GB, these SSD modules are equipped with MLC NAND Flash memory chips, a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, a MTBF of 1 million hours and provide read and write speeds of up to 275MB/s and 225MB/s, respectively. Not exactly the fastest around, as it’s still using the now-dated SATA II interface, but you do save space on your drive bay of your casing. Pricing and release date are still unknown at the moment, but if you really want something speedy, do consider COZ RevoDrive which is a lot more faster than this. We always prefer heavy duty paper shredder as corporates will always shred papers in large scales. But they’re big, and expensive, and not exactly suitable for SOHO and also personal use at home, when you want to shred the love letter sent to you by your secret scandal partner. One Tenth has announced the new Bridge Compact Paper Shredder. Produced in collaboration with Takumi and Idea International inc, this office accessory is both small and lightweight, making it ideal for private use in the home. The mechanism is powered by batteries and can be easily stored in small spaces, just so that you can bring em anywhere and shred any paper that you want. May 27th, 2011
Here’s a cool watch for nerds that won’t look too nerdy. The Cadence Watch Company has announced the new 4-Bit Chronograph watch. 4-bit you say? Yes, 4-bit, as in binary. Instead of Arabic or Latin numerals, the numbers on this dial are in 4-bit binary. Yes, the same 0 and 1 and 0 and lots of 0 and 1 stuff that we learned back then, that I already returned to my teacher. Move on please! It’s not actually very hard to decode the time, since the position are still the same as conventional watch. The 4-Bit Chronograph watch also features a Universal Coordinated Time (UTC) display, a 42mm stainless steel case, luminescent watch hands, a genuine leather wristband, the Miyota quartz watch movement, a Sapphire coated quartz glass and water resistant to 5 ATM. The Cadence 4-Bit Chronograph watch will be released in July 2011 for $195. SOURCE via Swift Page |
