While a deck of playing cards is still a very common prop found in an illusionist’s arsenal, it was only a matter of time before someone went digital. One illusionist is using three iPod touches to present his act. It’s not a mind-bending illusion act that will hit Las Vegas anytime soon, but it’s at least worth a viewing to see his impeccable timing and synchronization over three independent devices.
It’s been a few days since the banhammer has fallen on the unfortunate few websites that the MCMC have deemed unfit for the Malaysian Internet populous. As expected, this sparked major outrage in the community even reaching hacktivist group Anonymous who have also voiced their disdain for the censorship of the internet here. One of the more popular sites on the ban list was filesharing website The Pirate Bay. It was no surprise that this site would be on the list as it is perhaps the largest torrent site and most famous of them all.
If you’re one of the many people enraged by the inability to download your favourite legal (of course) torrents, fear not for some enterprising individuals have started a mirror to the torrent giant called malaysiabay.org. That’s one less site to worry about on the list of banned ones for your ISP. What next? fileserve.my? We have no idea how long this site will last, so pay a visit today before it gets yanked off too.
The never-ending battle between active and polarizing 3D alternatives still isn’t anywhere near its impossible-to-determine finale, but it’s pretty clear that LG’s intent on supporting the latter. Those who aren’t fazed by losing resolution so long as batteries aren’t required in their 3D glasses should be elated to hear of the outfit’s latest Cinema 3D sets, with the 32-inch 32LW5700, 42-inch 42LW5700 and 47-inch 47LW5700 pushing three-dee down to smaller scale displays. We’ve never been particularly fond of the 3D effect on bedroom-sized panels, but those looking for something a bit less gargantuan may beg to differ. The trio will support USB HDD recording, an integrated tuner, and of course, the inclusion of an IPS panel should make both 2D and 3D images alike look downright ravishing. Those fine to settle for the way we’ve always watched TV can opt for the 2D-only 47LZ9600 (47-inch) / 55LZ9600 (55-inch), both clocking in at 8.8mm thick and offering a native 1080p resolution, a built-in TV tuner and support for USB recording. The whole lot is expected to hit Japan later this month, with other dignified nations to surely follow suit shortly.
Last night there’s a lunar eclipse, but oddly nobody knew (or doesn’t care anyway), because since last night the most talked about topic on the Internet in our region is this #OpMalaysia, an operation announced by the hacktivist group Anonymous to retaliate against the new “Internet blockage” action by MCMC (Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commision) at blocking ten websites that are related to online free file-sharing.
Apparently Anonymous announced that the planned DDoS (Distributed denial of service) attack will take place at 3:30AM local time and the only targeted website is www.malaysia.gov.my, however plenty Malaysian government sites were already down at about midnight last night, as we tried to access most of them and failed. At the time of writing, www.malaysia.gov.my but plenty are already restored. Read more…
These 40 bundles dropping out of a U.S. Air Force Globemaster III over Afghanistan last December aren’t just any supplies; they’re filled with liquid fuel. That’s right; this is a shot of a gas station operating at 30,000 feet.
If the U.S. Army has to airdrop its Humvees into remote and unfriendly locations, it makes sense for the fuel to arrive the same way, as it does here with these 40 bundles. Cost? About $11 a gallon.
The U.S. Department of Defense announced plans Monday to cut its energy demand, which consumed five billion gallons of oil in 2010, at a cost of $13.2 billion. The military says 80% of the supply missions in Afghanistan were to shuttle fuel, and 3,000 soliders have been wounded or killed between 2003 and 2007 in attacks on fueling convoys in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It’s not just liquid fuel for vehicles; the DOD estimates by 2012, infantry soliders will be hauling an average of 50 batteries each, weighing about 18 lbs. total, into battle. And that’s the real reason why terrorists want to kill American soldiers. FOR THE BATTERIES!!!
Apple selling unlocked iPhone 4 isn’t a new thing – unless you’re in the U.S., that is. Today Apple opened up availability of unlocked iPhone 4 in all flavours for sale through its U.S. online store.
The 16 GB sells for $649 while the 32 GB is $749 and do not come attached to any contract. The move to sell unlocked GSM phones is a bit puzzling as U.S. customers who buy the unlocked iPhone 4 can only use it on 3G on AT&T because T-Mobile does not run on a compatible 3G band. Still, for iPhone 4 users who find themselves on foreign soil often will like the ability of swapping to a local SIM without the need for any jailbreaking hacks.
Apple has sold unlocked iPhone 4 in other markets since launch nearly a year ago. Is this a move to clear the iPhone 4 for the next iPhone?
Top Gear Season 17 will be aired on June 26 at 8pm, which is the usual Sunday slot. Top Gear has released a short trailer for this season, and it looks exciting as usual.
We know for sure that Jeremy Clarkson will be driving the all-new McLaren MP4-12C which was said to be developed and tested on the Top Gear track, James May will be riding shotgun in the MINI WRC car paired against a luge racer and Richard Hammond is driving some massive dump truck on top of passenger cars through a city street. And the dude that’s beside Jezza in the tiny hatch is the boss of Formula One, Bernie Ecclestone.
The R35 Nissan GT-R proved one way to beat the world beaters is with better tech, not more power. Applying the same technique to half the wheels, Aprilia’s RSV4 can launch, slide, shift and hold back wheelies for the rider. Godzillabike?
