Last week in Cologne, EA Labels president and former EA Games bossman Frank Gibeau told CVG that Sony’s PlayStation Vita will stand a better chance on the market than Nintendo’s fledgling 3DS system thanks to its innovative design, the technology behind the device and a strong software lineup backing it up.
Currently there’s speculation that the Vita might suffer the same 3DS fate thanks to its seemingly high price tag, that gamers accustomed to purchasing smaller, cheaper gaming apps on their tablets and smartphones might hold off until the price takes a significant dive. There’s also the fact that many gamers simply no longer want to carry around more than one device, especially if the dedicated unit is considerably larger and doesn’t fit into a pocket.
“I think that part of the videogame business is tough right now because they have had some significant competition come in that was totally disruptive, and that was the smartphone,” Gibeau said. “I think [Sony has] got a shot because they have some really unique innovation in the control scheme, the technology and the screen. It’s got a lot of social features now so that you can actually communicate with your friends and be social.”
He also acknowledged that Vita owners won’t be able to call their friends on the device, but in general it will offer most of everything that a smartphone can bring to the table… plus a few additional, unique qualities that makes it stand out. There’s also the software lineup which will not only outshine anything on a smartphone or tablet, but will have the edge on Nintendo’s handheld as well.
“I don’t think they’re quite in the same boat as the 3DS,” he said. “The 3DS was a really interesting piece of technology but I think there was some confusion over it and the title slate was a little different. I think Vita has a better chance because it has a stronger title slate at launch. PSP’s had a great run in Europe as a device — it seems to have reached a much larger audience here than it did in North America. So I think they’ve got a good shot. We’re going to publish a few games on it and see how it develops.”
The PlayStation Vita is slated to arrive sometime during Q1 2012.

Step aside Alienware, there is someone encroaching on your gaming laptop turf. Up till today, Razer has been known for its top-notch gaming peripherals but after showing off the Switchblade concept earlier this year at CES, we couldn’t help thinking that there was something on the horizon.
Check out the Razer Blade, 0.88inches thick, it houses a 2.8GHz Core i7-2640M CPU, GeForce GT 555M graphics card with 2GB GDDR5 Memory as well as a 17.3inch LED 1920×1080 full HD display. The Blade also features 8GB or RAM, 3 USB ports and HDMI-out. While the specs are nothing out of the ordinary, where the Razer Blade turns heads is with the 480×800 LCD trackpad beside the backlit keyboard, designed to work as either a multitouch-enabled input device or as an additional display for in-game info. On top of the screen are 10 programmable keys courtesy of a separate LCD reminiscent of the optimus keyboard and more recently, yup, the Razer Switchblade.

Looking at the incredible aesthetics of the Blade, I can see myself wanting one to satiate my geek lust, but is the price tag of US$2,799 really worth it for essentially the mini display and keys? The new laptop from Razer is indeed thin and powerful, somewhat of like the MacBook Pro, or even the MacBook Air, but by using the GT555M graphic is a very huge let-down to me. Who is Razer trying to attract? Old Warcraft 3 players? DotA players? CS 1.6 players? We’ll just have to wait until Q4 when it’s set to be released. Check out the source link for more images.

Claimed to be the most customizable mouse in the world, SteelSeries has recently unveiled their latest gaming mouse called the Sensei at Gamescom in Germany. What they actually mean by customization is not Sensei’s physical body but instead, its technical configurations. SteelSeries nicknamed these settings as ExactTech which includes lift distance, cursor acceleration, path correction and sensitivity level. Users can even access further customization options through SteelSeries Engine software.
All Sensei’s movement are calculated by a 32-bit ARM processor that is embedded within the mouse and allows Sensei to reach sensitivity up to 11,400 CPI (counts per inch). Not enough with that, SteelSeries also equipped the Sensei with a 10.8-megapixels laser sensor that correlate images at up to 12,000 frames per second and is able to handle movements of up to 150-inches per second.

Apart from its ambidextrous shape that is suitable for both left and right handed users and sleek non-slip metal coating, SteelSeries is also equipped with a LCD display on its underside that allows users to access their settings as well as the ability display their own name and logo. In addition to that, users are also able to customize Sensei’s wheel, CPI indicator and logo lights with 16.8 million of different color combinations to choose from.
The new SteelSeries Sensei is expected to be available in Malaysia from the middle of September 2011 onwards and is priced at RM 399. And you’re probably as rich, or richer, than Pit Bull, if you’re wearing one neways. While you might find some buyers who’ve stretched their finances from the S-Class or Jaguar they were going to buy to afford a Bentley, something tells us most Bentley drivers have got cash to burn. Burn on stuff like dinners at private clubs, plush leather smartphone cases, custom tailored suits and solid gold sunglasses.

Wait, what was that? That’s right, solid gold sunglasses – just the thing every Bentley driver should have, especially when riding in the new Continental GTC. Fortunately, Bentley offers just such an item, in conjunction with its (rather unfortunately named) merchandising partner Estede.

The sunglasses won’t keep you from contracting herpes or some other VD, but they will set you back at least $11,000 for the 18-karat white or rose gold frames, or upwards of $45k for the platinum ones. They’re all hand-made in Germany with Zeiss polarized lenses, and feature Bentley-designed details and individual numbers.

Only 100 examples of each will be made in various precious metals, and have apparently been selling out in markets like China, Hong Kong and Russia.
Apple has given its new CEO, Tim Cook, a million reasons to stay on until August 24, 2021. As required by Securities and Exchange Commission rules, Apple filed a Form 8-K on Friday to officially inform stockholders of company leadership changes that might affect stock performance.
Oh, if you haven’t heard, Steve Jobs resigned his CEO position on Wednesday, and was replaced by former COO Tim Cook. Included in the brief filing is the following bit of largesse proffered to Mr Cook:
In connection with Mr Cook’s appointment as Chief Executive Officer, the Board awarded Mr. Cook 1,000,000 restricted stock units. Fifty percent of the restricted stock units are scheduled to vest on each of August 24, 2016 and August 24, 2021, subject to Mr. Cook’s continued employment with Apple through each such date.
At last week’s value at the close of markets, those 1,000,000 shares would be worth $383,580,000.
Or, to look at it another fun – if ludicrous – way, on August 24, 2001, Apple’s stock was going for $9.29 a share. Today’s stock price is a 4,029 per cent increase over that 10-year-old bargain.
If Cook can keep Apple’s value increasing at the same rate that Jobs managed to achieve over the past 10 years, his 1,000,000 share bonus on August 24, 2021 will be worth $15,454,438,200.
That is, should he decide to sell such a hot stock immediately upon vesting. One doubts he’ll need the money. After all, according to Apple’s most recent Proxy Statement, Cook’s total compensation for 2010 alone was a cool $59,092,572.

According to Ubisoft Assassin’s Creed Revelations will answer 7 out of the top 10 burning questions that Assassin’s Creed fans have. Assassin’s Creed Revelation’s Alex Amancio told Destructoid;
“Keep in mind we’re following the typical trilogy structure, so of course, everything can’t be answered.”
“People are going to go ‘Oh, okay, I get it!’ or ‘I never thought they were going to show me at!,’ and it really sets you up for what’s the come,”
“We actually found [online], I forget where it is on the web, somebody did a ‘Top 10 Things Fans Want to Know About Assassin’s Creed’, and in that top 10 list, we actually answer seven.”
Which question do you really want to be answered in Assassin’s Creed Revelations?

The problem with internet quotes is that you never know who wrote them. – Abraham Lincoln
