ZTE rolls out Skate, decent yet affordable

Said to be inspired by skateboards, ZTE has recently added a brand new device called Skate into their growing catalog of Android smartphones. Expected to be available in on our shores sometime around October or November, the new ZTE Skate is equipped with 4.3-inch touch display and is powered by an 800MHz Qualcomm processor that is paired together with 512MB of RAM. Running on Android 2.3, it also comes together with a 5-megapixels auto-focus camera with LED flash.

At this age and time where newer Android smartphones usually come together with a 1.0GHz processor, ZTE Skate with its 800MHz processor might sounds a little bit underpowered. Well, let’s not forget that your iPhone 4 is also running on an underclocked 800MHz A4 CPU. Then again, with a price tag that is expected to be under RM 1,000 as per ZTE’s previous Android offerings, it seems that ZTE Skate is designed to meet the demand of the low to mid end segment of the market.
