1 million Galaxy Notes shipped worldwide

The Galaxy Note, Samsung’s unconventional powerhouse, has managed to ship 1 million units in under two months. While eager US customers still wait for the 5.3-inch tabletphone hybrid to arrive on their shores, the Galaxy Note has apparently struck a chord in Europe and Asia. The number of units shipped is always more substantial than the number devices out there in end-users’ (preferably large) hands, but it bodes well for the device’s eventual reception in the US.

CyanogenMod Compiler project allows Android tweakers to easily make custom blends

CyanogenMod Compiler project allows Android tweakers to easily make custom blends

Ever wish that building your own personal ROM was as simple as placing an order at Starbucks? Well, an intrepid coder known as lithid-cm has taken that vision one step closer with the CyanogenMod Compiler (CMC), a command line utility that allows armchair mixers to remove unwanted features and then compile their own special blend of CyanogenMod. While CMC’s functionality is currently rather limited — which allows users to eliminate languages, wallpapers and tweak themes — the developer will introduce new installation / removal features and additional plug-in support in future releases. The software is early alpha stage, which means its creator needs the help of others to identify and resolve the rough edges. So, if you aren’t afraid to get your hands a bit dirty, CMC seems quite worthwhile. Just don’t blame us when you break something.

Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy 3D coming in 2012?

Samsung Galaxy S III and Galaxy 3D coming in 2012?

The Samsung Galaxy S series devices were generally a phenomenal success throughout the world and can be considered as one of the success stories for the Korean electronics giant. With such level of success, there is an obvious need to keep the ball rolling. Hence, we are not surprised that Samsung is rumored to be working on Galaxy S III.

The third generation device from Galaxy S series is said to come with a quad-core processor, 720p HD Super AMOLED Plus display and of course, Android 4.0 operating system a.k.a the Ice Cream Sandwich. The device is expected to be announced at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in February 2012 and will be available for consumers sometime in the second quarter of the year.

As the same time, Samsung is said to be working on 3D technology for its smartphones. However, it is not known for now whether the 3D functionality – which covers not only playback but also photo and video recording – will be fitted into Galaxy S III or otherwise. Nevertheless, a brand new 3D-capable device called Galaxy S 3D might be hitting the market around the same time as Galaxy S III.

This is not the first Samsung 3D phone as they have released 3D-capable phone called W960 last year in Korea. Of course, being a Galaxy-class device, we expect that the new rumored Galaxy S 3D will be as good as its other siblings in the series. Well, we shall find out how true this rumor is in two months’ time. Till then, fathom this news with a bag full of salt.

Iconia Tab A200 and A700 slates head to CES

Acer already spilled the beans on its Iconia Tab A200, a 10.1-inch slab powered by NVIDIA’s 1GHz Tegra 2 processor, but whatever happened to that Tegra 3 touting A700? It went to Russia, of course. According to NoMobile.ru, the A200′s slimmer, but more powerful brother will debut at CES 2012 next month. The Ruskie site pegs the tablet’s 1920 x 1200 resolution screen at 10.1-inches, which is bordered by SIM and micro-USB slots, a dedicated rotation lock switch, the standard volume rockers, an audio jack and a micro-HDMI port. On its rear they found a textured back garnished with a five megapixel camera sporting a built-in flash — the whole unit weights 650 grams (1.43 pounds) and boasts a ten hour battery life. When can we see it? At CES, says NoMobile.ru, or in stores if you’re willing to wait until March. Follow the source link below for a few more pictures.
