Thursday Intel launched a new interactive advertisement for its second-generation Intel Core i5 processor with an additional nod to its Intel Wireless Display technology. Called “The Escape,” viewers must help a female secret agent escape from the clutches of enemy agents. Intel calls this a “first” for YouTube given that viewers must interact directly with the medium in order to make the escape.

“We wanted to connect with consumers in a personal, engaging and interactive way while demonstrating the visual capabilities of the 2nd Generation Intel Core processor family,” said Stephanie Gan, regional manager of advertising and digital programs for Intel Asia Pacific. “While YouTube offered the perfect stage for creating this experience, it was important to make some of the interactions social with Facebook integration.”

“Just as Intel’s 2nd Generation Core processors transform your computing experience, this campaign will transform the way you look at the YouTube platform. You’ve never seen YouTube quite like this,” she added.

During the video, users are required to solve a puzzle, go into first-person mode and shoot down enemies using a remote-controlled, flying robot (no deaths), go into a one-on-one fist fight with an enemy agent and a few other silly tricks. The ending is actually rather corny as well, but the interaction between the viewer and the advertiser is rather unique. Viewers can also sign up two Facebook friends to help out with the mission.

Here’s the video’s full description:

A femme fatale, two ruthless heavies and you. These are the stars of a new film experience from Intel called “The Escape.” This immersive YouTube thriller makes the audience the hero of an adventure that integrates film, interactivity and social networking into a single seamless experience.

In “The Escape,” the lead character – you – must rendezvous with a nameless female secret agent and collect a mysterious envelope. As the two of you are chased by heavies, your view of the world is transformed by Intel’s 2nd Generation Core processors, allowing you to outwit your pursuers and save the day.

The entire experience has been created to take advantage of the user’s social networks. Users can earn achievement badges that they can post to their Facebook profiles, and include their friends’ profile pictures on robots featured in fighting scenes.

The adventure contains hidden clues and treats that allow players to unlock additional content and see a richer view of the world of “The Escape.” For example, QR codes built into the creative allow you to see your pursuers through walls.

To play Intel’s new interactive Core i5 advertisement, head here.

Looks like everyone’s into short films these days when promoting their new cars. BMW started the kick, and Mercedes took it up again lately. Now it’s Land Rover’s turn to put their new Range Rover Evoque into the movie.

This time the main guy is Leo Fitzpatrick, which oddly also once portrayed drug addict Johnny Weeks on The Wire, or himself in the film Kids. He’s now the lead guy of Land Rover’s new interactive film Being Henry.

The spot was created by Land Rover as a unique means to tout the many personalization options for its new Evoque. Directed by Nick Gordon, Being Henry allows the viewer to jump into the story and take control of Henry’s actions. The result is an engaging, humorous and very different way for an automaker to advertise a product.

Once you reach the end of your decision making process, “the voice” comes in and shows you what type of Evoque fits the decisions you make. Do take note that the film is somewhat NSFW if your colleagues are very sensitive towards skins and some wordings used, but the film is definitely worth a few moments of your time. Click past the jump to view a trailer of the film.

This is obviously not the first time we saw such cool advertisement. Is Lexus running out of ideas? It started out with Nokia showing a 3D advertisement of the Angry Bird, and then Hot Wheels followed up with a few demos on virtual races. Next up is Hyundai doing a similar stunt, but they placed an actual car up there. Now Lexus is going to mimic the same method. Celebrating Earth Day, Lexus demoed this 3D light mapping projection feature on the Lexus CT200h over at the Roosevelt Hotel. The irony here is that this is held on Earth Day, a day where people were told to think of Mother Nature, and off your darn lights, and don’t use plastic bags, and walk to office (I didn’t). But why is Lexus using such method that will surely consume lots of electricity? Well, their argument is simple. Compare it to the amount of trees that get cut down for print advertising to reach the same amount of people at the Earth Day event as well as online viewers of the video archived on YouTube and featured on websites (such as ours, lol), and you’ve saved up lots of papers already. Well, fair enough. The projection is indeed very cool.

Back four years ago BMW started the short movies trend called ‘The Hire’ and had great success thanks in part to Clive Owen. But now, it seemed that Mercedes is also trying to mimic the success that BMW had back then. This time, there’s no Clive Owen, but there’s Kate Nauta from Transporter 2. There’s no raging women and stupid manager, but there are scantily clad chicks wearing white skin suits robbing a bank. Wait, chicks robbing a bank? And wearing sexy clothes? Right, we’re watching a movie. Carry on.

There are a lot to complain about this short film. Nobody gets to swim in Marina Sands Bay hotel, get up, and reach a Hong Kong bank in Kuala Lumpur in 15 minus. Not even a jet plane can get you so fast, even if you jump from the swimming pool to the plane and change your clothes in the plane. There’s just no way. And also, the Royal Police force does not stop a robber using only one roadblock that has a leak; they chase you down with their fleet of eagle Evo X. And the guy looks stupid!

Then again, the movie still looks good, and will still help Mercedes to sell a few more of the C-Class Coupe. Damn that ride looks good!

They say that Land Rover builds tough vehicles so that you can ram over almost anything and climb almost any mountain. It’s durable; it’s tough, so that you feel safe inside it. Right? Well, yes. But Land Rover thinks that we only treat their car as durable ‘physically’, and they think that we should also embrace Land Rover as a car that will make you safe ‘emotionally’, or ‘pathological’.

In a new commercial, Land Rover shows us that its LR4 is a safe haven from one soon-to-be-angry significant other that just discovered her man is a pathological liar. He’s not named Jean-Luc, does not speak with a French accent and has a whole host of other things to confess. Thankfully, he can do so from the safety of his Land Rover.

It’s not just this particular liar that feels safe either, as the LR4 can get dirty cops to comfortably confess and a timid manager to confront “the office sword collector.” Click past the jump to watch the scenes unfold.

I was wondering, does a company such as Lamborghini need to develop commercial videos for their new cars? Well, apparently they did. The raging bull company has crafted a very epic commercial video which is perfect for their latest bull, the Aventador LP700-4. Then again, for what reason?

The video doesn’t show you how big the boot is, how good the mileage you can get, and the worst part is the supercar is said to have been sold out for this year and next year, so what is the point of recording a video to advertise a car that has been sold out?

Well, let’s just say this is a fan service video for those that cannot afford such cars, like me. Apparently the only way a Lamborghini can be driven is like how they drive the bull in the video below. Yes, we also need to drive the Aventador like that in the city, to avoid potholes.

Volkswagen made a very cute commercial of a little punk Vader during the Super Bowl XLV, and it seemed that Marvel Comics is ripping off the same theme. But to what? Well, the highly anticipated upcoming Thor movie of course. The studio has gone through the trouble of recreating the German automaker’s “The Force” ad nearly scene-for-scene… with one notable exception.

Honda’s luxurious brand in the North America, Acura is the official car sponsor for this movie, but the hero car in this particular commercial isn’t the new Acura TL in the movie Thor. That’s probably all for the best given the final outcome.

While Volkswagen’s tiny Vader couldn’t quite bend the force to his will, this runt manages to have a little better luck with Thor’s hammer. Can’t really tell you how it ended, but let’s just say that this little brat is in a big trouble. You’ll just have to check out the full spot in the video after the jump.

P/S: There’s quite a few ‘Easter Bunny’ in this commercial too, in line with Easter day. Look at the dog’s name, the toys behind the Barbie Doll, the mug used by mum, and the keychain in the car.

Why on earth is a Hyundai Accent hanged on a concrete wall? Some angry owner stunt?
Well, not really. This photo was taken a Shereen Teh to the local newspaper The Star back in February. Yes, this Hyundai Accent, which has yet been officially launched in our country, is doing some vehicle-Spiderman stunt for their new projection mapping display commercial. Check out the commercial video below. What I can say is, it looks bloody familiar, yet awesome!
