SID 2009 in San Antonio, Samsung Mobile Display (SMD) has showed out its new prototype of 6.5 inch AMOLED screen. It is a new screen with more flexibility than its predecessors and comes with a response time that is 1000 times faster than a standard LCD. SMD sees many applications that can be used with AMOLED such newspaper, epaper, e-passport, military maps, and many more. It is still under development, no idea when is its commercial release. Samsung Electronics has launched the 240Hz LCD TV ’750 Series’ in Korea. It has the new technology that drives images at 240 Hertz which is twice faster than today’s 120Hz HDTV. A little update on OLED to you all. Japan-based Ito Electronics is showing off their new waterproof OLED display at the Finetech Japan 2009. With its packaging technology, Ito allows OLED to work under water. For watch use obviously.

LG is introducing their new W53 Smart LCDs that automatically adjust brightness and feature a cinema mode which blacking out the rest of the screen when playing videos, a timer that reminds you to take a break and a proximity sensor.
