Samsung shipping 22-inch Transparent BLU LCD TV next week

Do you fancy transparent screens? They’ve been demoed couple of times by Samsung, but now it’s going into real products. Samsung just showcased their 22-inch Transparent BLU LCD TV at the SID 2011 today, and they’ll be up for grabs starting next week. Samsung says that the product is targeted more for commercial market, specifically advertising, but I’m sure a few weird people would want this in their living room.

Dell to refresh their UltraSharp series monitors very soon

It seemed that Dell might be refreshing their UltraSharp series monitors very soon. The first details about three new Dell UltraSharp monitors have surfaced. The company will launch the 24-inch UltraSharp U2412HM, 23-inch U2312HM and 21.5-inch U2212HM. All models come with IPS panels (so you can say goodbye to lousy TN panels), a 16:9 format and a white LED backlight. The Dell U2412HM is a 24-inch model and is believed to be a 16:9 monitor with a 1920 x 1080 resolution. It is also believed to be a standard color gamut monitor and features a matte coating. HP unveils super slim and sexy Elite L2201x 22-inch LED-backlit monitor

Looks like HP not only announced 6 new laptops, but they also announced a brand new and extremely slender 22-inch monitor. It’s called the Elite L2201x, which is an LED-backlit display measuring at only 0.4-inch thick. Resolution is at a very standard 1920 x 1080 display, with 5000:1 contrast ratio, and it works with DisplayPort. What’s more, this very sexy monitor is not only slim but also very affordable, at only $250. Not bad, this would actually be able to contend with the likes of LG and Samsung in terms of price. The Elite L2201x will be shipping on 1st of June. Read more…

Acer H274H Full HD Monitor wants to be a gamer monitor so badly

Gamer’s monitor, how do you define them? Fast refresh rate, and high contrast ratio, probably these things. Now Acer has just unleashed their newest Full HD monitor ‘H274H’ for the European market. Aimed at gamers and multimedia users, this new 27-inch LED-backlight monitor delivers 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution, 100,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, a slightly slow 5ms response time and 178/170 degree viewing angles. In terms of connectivity ports, it comes with D-Sub, DVI and HDMI. The H274H is now available for purchase in Europe for 299 Euro (about $422). Gamer monitor? Not really, I’d prefer Asus’s 100Hz monitor any day over this.

Toshiba shows off glasses-free 3D display

3D has invaded 2010, but there’s just one thing that made it slightly ‘unsuccessful’, and that’s the glasses. They’re bulky, and uncomfortable, not to say making the movie slightly darker if the glasses is worn out with lotsa scratches. But something’s telling me the glasses will go, soon. Check this out. Toshiba’s new glasses-free 3D display tilts images from their Toshiba Mobile Display division.

LG announces yet another “slim” LED monitor

Yes, here we go again. Yet another round of ‘the slimmest monitor’ and it’s from LG again. The Korean electronics giant is proud to present the company’s latest and slimmest LED monitor, the E90. Measuring at merely 7.2mm thick, the 21.5-inch widescreen display comes with a fast response time of 2ms, which is perfect for gaming and movies. Obviously, the screen supports Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolutions. Connectivity wise, the LED monitor has the usual D-Sub/DVI-D/HDMI ports. I’m still wondering when manufacturers will include the much superior DisplayPort. The good thing about this monitor is that the company claims that the E90 uses 40-percent less power compared to traditional CCFL LCD monitors. The E90 will be arriving later this month.

NEC MultiSync EA232WMi Full HD Monitor coming to Europe this month

NEC is planning on launching their latest Full HD monitor MultiSync EA232WMi in Europe later this month. Hopefully there’ll be people paying attention to it, as the weather’s freezing cold in UK right now. Though I’m not sure how there’re still kids out there playing snowballs.

Anyway, this new 23-inch W-LED backlight monitor makes use of an IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel and has a 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution for all your Full HD needs. The monitor has a 1000:1 typical contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness and 14ms response time. What’s more, the monitor is also Energy Star 5.0 certified and comes with two built-in 1W speakers, four USB, D-Sub, DVI and DisplayPort connectors. The NEC MultiSync EA232WMi will sell for €374 (about USD 494).

Eizo introduces the DuraVision 3D Full HD monitor, easily one ugly monitor

Eizo introduces the DuraVision 3D Full HD monitor, easily one ugly monitor

We’ve heard lots of 3D TV and 3D monitors from many companies, but hardly any with Naked-Eye 3D technology. Eizo is ready to launch the DuraVision FDF2301-3D Full HD monitor, which is equipped with the Naked-Eye 3D technology. This technology uses a directional backlight, allowing users to view 3D images without 3D glasses. Eizo’s recommended viewing distance for 3D images is 890mm. Due to the design though, it’s one hell of an ugly monitor.

The display has the ability to offer a number of 3D viewing modes including Side by Side, Anaglyph, Frame Sequential and Dual Input. Measuring 650mm x 261.7mm x 566.3mm and weighing 16kg, the Eizo DuraVision FDF2301-3D will be available in the first half of the 2011 for around $12,000.

HP introduces new 2010i 20-inch Widescreen HD-ready LCD Monitor

HP introduces new 2010i 20-inch Widescreen HD-ready LCD Monitor

HP’s monitor has always been very smart looking and comes with decent features and performance. The new HP 2010i 20-inch widescreen monitor is no exception. This sleek LCD display has a two-lamp panel that helps lower down power consumption during operation, and provides a screen ratio of 16:9 with 1600 x 900 pixel resolution. That’s not Full HD resolution, but still capable of playing some 720P contents, so it’s essentially a HD-Ready monitor. The panel has a 5ms response time, 250nits brightness, and a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. Additional features include built-in speakers, a VGA port and a DVI-D (with HDCP) port.
