Sony has launched the CPF-IX001 wireless music player. The compact music player features high-powered micro-speakers and a subwoofer and can be easily networked with a PC using a wireless 802.11 b/g access point for direct playback of music files in the hard drive. After loading the supplied M-crew software, the product just needs power, an 802.11 b/g access point, and an Ethernet connection, automatically configuring to a home network. Once connected, the player will creates it own IP address thereby creating a home network and multiple players can join the network and stream music wirelessly from the networked PC. The system automatically searches and detect for music files when connected to a network for simple content navigation by disc, artist and genre. The player also can create a play list that can be accessed via remote control.
