Published by German hacker group The Hacker’s Choice, the THC-SSL-DOS is designed to highlight weaknesses in SSL and force “the industry” to make SSL more secure.

“We decided to make the official release after realizing that this tool leaked to the public a couple of months ago” the group wrote in a blog post. “We are hoping that the fishy security in SSL does not go unnoticed. The industry should step in to fix the problem so that citizens are safe and secure again. SSL is using an aging method of protecting private data which is complex, unnecessary and not fit for the 21st century.”

According to the group, a notebook and a DSL connection is enough to kill a simple SSL server. Larger server farms required 20 notebooks and traffic of about 120 Kbps. The basic feature of THC-SSL-DOS is that it demands renegotiations of encryption keys, which creates up to 1000 parallel connections between the client and the server. As a result, any SSL server is vulnerable to this tool – not just web servers, but email servers as well.

The software is available as a free download for Windows and Unix. Before you download it and use it, keep in mind that using the software will most likely be considered a criminal act.

It’s funny but it’s true. I’ve seen many that do not know how to use a Kensington lock. Many people buy notebooks these days, and the locks come with the ‘free’ gifts. It’s been such an often case of people asking me how to use these locks, that I’ve lost count. That’s only for first timer thought. But you’d be surprised that human’s worst habit, laziness, strikes hard over here. There’s already cases where laptops got stolen yet there’s Kensington lock around but not used. Well, Kensington themselves are already aware of the issue, and a new alternative that it swears “your employees will actually use.”

The new ClickSafe system essentially works as such: you insert a small locking nub into the lock slot that ships on (almost) every new laptop today, and then you clip the new locking cable on by hand. Once you’ve completed the first step, the cable connection is a simple motion each morning — in theory, at least. Peek the installation vid after the break if you’re still having your doubts, and feel free to blow $49.99 / $69.99 (depending on model) if you just know that this time it’ll be different.

I came out with number 11: that’s your date of birth. That’s pretty common, I’m using that last time, I’ve changed it after my friends got my logins and start sending sh!ts out with my mail. So please use strong passwords, especially for those banking sites.

If tazers doesn’t work, then it’s time to use the powerful Spiderman-like web-slinging device, the NET-2000 Shooting Net Rod. It uses a charge of highly compressed air to fire a net which is capable of catching the fleeing suspects from as far as 49 feet away. Do you think they can escape for this? It shoots out a huge 52 square foot net made of high strength Nylon fiber and yeah, you can tie them up on the lamp post and start shooting some pictures. In addition to law enforcement use, this torchlight-shaped device is also designed for animal catchers to use in place of traditional manual nets. Want to get one? Importer Chinagrabber is offering the device for $419. Please make sure that it is legal to use in your country. Watch how powerful it is after the break.
