Hitachi has showcased their experimental 4 layered Blu-Ray discs at the Ceatec 2007 in Tokyo. It can hold up to 100GB. The company is currently working on the signal quality stabilization in addition to changing the lens focus so it can read and write on 4 layers. They are also do research on the 8 layer Blu-Ray media which can hold up 200GB of data but with layers the reflected laser from the disc decreases which weakens the signal. Wow I just can’t imagine a 100GB disc.

bee the other day and now we have the rat, let’s see what rat can do. Erm… only certain type of rat, the Gambian Pouch Rat can detect mine. APOPO has trains sniffer rats to detect explosives and diagnose disease. Yes, Gambian Pouch Rats not only sniff mines but they can also be train to sniff out diseases such as Tuberculosis which is still a threat in the developing world. So not all rats need to be kill, some are useful.

Tokyo-based Nakazawa Foods, a Japanese food company has announced premium milk specially make for stressed-out adult, called the “Adult Milk”. Yes, it is a type of milk that helps you relief stress. According to the company, the milk is taken from cows once a week at the break of dawn, as they discharge a lot of a stress-relieving hormone called melatonin during the night. The milk is bottled within six hours of milking at a farm north of Tokyo and said to contain three to four times as much melatonin as usual milk. The Adult Milk will be launched in October and they are priced 5,000 Yen ($43) a bottle which is 30 times more expensive than ordinary milk. Not sure they shipped it worldwide, hopefully yes.

Now that’s cool. Coca Cola is going to make new version of Sprite that will chills up when it is open. The drink has a specified temperature before being snapped up, a mechanism inside creates ices made from the drink. According to the report, the drink will be called Sprite Super Chilled and will hit the UK early next year. This technology will soon pass to Coke, Diet Coke and even beers.

Samsung has released their new super thin 0.08mm PCB. Not sure if this – the world’s thinnest PCB or not. In comparison, this is thinner than the average piece of paper which measures about 0.1mm thick. This may be used to make flexible devices.
