Doublesided touchscreen currently on work

Researchers at Microsoft and Mitsubishi are currently working on a pseudo-transparent touchscreen system which allows users to type text, click on hyperlinks, and even navigate maps on both sides of a portable device. User can see their semi-transparent fingers touching the back so they can clearly see what they’re touching on. I’m sure it will be very fragile.

Chopsticks to New Biofuel

In Japan, the government has announced plans to use the wooden chopsticks as biofuel. There are about 90,000 tons disposable chopsticks are discarded in Japan every year. Ethanol-producing plants in Osaka and Okayama are expected to start converting these oily choppers into wood pellet fuel soon. Interesting, this is the use of disposable chopsticks. What is next?

GPS Shoes for Prostitutes

Aphrodite Project has developed a GPS platform shoes for prostitutes. The shoes come with an audible alarm system which will give out a sharp noise to scare off attacker. The shoes are equipped with GPS receiver and an emergency button that relays both the prostitute’s location and a silent alarm signal to public emergency services. I wondered if they manage to press the button if someone comes from behind.

Siemens PalmSecure Palm Reader

Siemens partnered up with PalmSecure and developed this palm reader which scans your palm and tries to recognize the vein patterns underneath your skin. It is pretty big but more secure than fingerprint readers as user doesn’t actually leave the palm-print on the device. It will be great if ATM machine use this instead of password, maybe in the future. One more shot after the jump.

The GlucoPhone

The GlucoPhone is a phone tool which is capable of sending blood glucose data over the internet. It is by fitting the special glucose meter known as the GlucoPack that fitted on the back of the cellphone. Easy, just is stick your test strip into a little slot on the side of the phone, bleed into it and send a text message of the result to an online database. The GlucoPhone is currently attached on the Verizon LG5200 handset.

Panasonic develops AA battery powered car

Panasonic has developed a car powered by a battery pack with 192 Panasonic Oxyride AA cells which are 1.5 times stronger than normal alkaline batteries, rocketing 0 to 102.68 km/h in 35.06-seconds. The car measures 3.3 meters long has a F1 styled cabin complete with a fin and rudder for better handling. It can speed up to 122 km/h which has entered to the Guinness book of records. Flashlight That Makes You Vomit

Intelligent Optical Systems has developed a kind of flashlight for cops that will temporarily blind you. The flashlight consists of very bright LEDs and its beam pulses and flashes while quickly changing its colors and then will get you disoriented and dizzy and feel like vomiting. Intelligent Optical Systems plans to start testing the 15-inch flashlight this fall on some lucky volunteers at Penn State University. Sometime just don’t want to be lucky, buek!!!
