The greatness of iOS 4 is about to be shown to the whole world. Yes, the iOS 4 is so great, so majestic. Why? That’s because one of the 1,500 new APIs in the iOS 4 provides direct access to the iPod library, meaning music apps of all kinds can play your tracks in any funky way they want. Not convinced yet? Well this is great news for iOS 4 developers, but indirectly users of the iOS 4 should also rejoice. That’s because the flexibility of fooling around the iPod music library is so wild, that they can even scratch the iPhone. No, not literally go and scratch it like a kitten, but yeah, you will soon be able to scratch your iPhone like a pro DJ. Next time DJs around the world won’t need the bulky and old notebooks for club banging anymore. All you need is your iPhone with iOS 4, and you’re ready to club! Read more…
Well well well, what have we got here? Your new iPhone 4 acting as a flashlight? That’s not something Steve Jobs would want the iPhone to be. It seemed to everyone’s surprise that Apple would allow apps to have direct control of the iPhone 4’s LED flashlight besides taking photos. Read more…
Once again people go and prove that Apple’s product is just a beautified fruit. Ars Technica goes and compare Android 2.2 (Google Nexus One) and iOS4 (Apple iPhone 4) on JavaScript performance. The chart above clearly shows the obvious winner. Is Apple’s product an ‘all show no go’? But then, I doubt 98% of the iPhone users really care about the split second difference. As long as it does the job, and does it in fashion, there’s really nothing much to be complained by the majority, unlike the antenna issue.
Steve Jobs might have swear on the iPhone 4′s new 5 Mega-Pixel ‘photonic’ camera, but that does not mean others agree. To some ‘professionals’, there’s always room for improvement. Continuing the great tradition of iPhones awkwardly outfitted with camera lenses, one ‘heroic’ individual has now come up with an uber-huge mechanism (compared to the iPhone 4) that will let you “attach” a full-size SLR lens to your iPhone 4. While complete details are a bit light, Technabob notes that the camera mount at the bottom of the rig is a Manfrotto pocket tripod — so you at least have a place to start for building your own.
Unlike typical Apple store with its chrome and glass windows, this new concept store by Apple is actually the old bank in Paris. It’s good to know that Apple has kept all those French looks nicely intact. All the wooden stairs and wrought-iron railings, to the marble columns and mosaic tile floor. Of kush, some reinforcement was made to further strengthen the building, besides renovations to add in those techy displays and counters and sofa. Honestly this has to be the most elegant concept store I’ve ever seen.
Apple is using a clever way to promote their iPhone 4 in Japan. Look! It’s a huge iPhone 4, spotted in Shibuya Subway. [Thanks to friend of mine, Benny Ho]
Apple has announced in the press that they have sold 1.7million of the iPhone 4 through Saturday, June 26. That is three days after the launch in 24.
“This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history,” said Steve Jobs in an Apple press release. Jobs said. “Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply.”
Apple is laughing till all its teeth dropped while walking to the bank, as all iPhone 4 was bought up by frenzy customers on the 1st day of launch. All iPhone 4 are sold out across the states, including Chicago, San Francisco, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Portland, Ore, Miami and Charlotte.
Worldwide early adopters of iPhone 4 have stated that their new glossy phone’s Retina Display is displaying a yellow coloration in the screen. Besides users from the States, editors of Engadget from Japan have also faced similar issue. Apple will be willingly exchanging a new set for those who face this yellow tint defect, but the numbers of users affected seemed to be staggering despite such early stage of release. Apple has yet to comment on this issue.
Retina display, something that Apple claims is 30 times stronger than conventional plastic, doesn’t seemed to convince us a lot when the front glass-like thing cracked after 4 drops. With the new display design being 2 glasses that sandwich the aluminum chassis of the phone, I really wonder how we are going to fix this $499 phone if we drop it 5 times in a week, or even a day. Not really a phone for those clumsy and clueless.
