A team of teenage students spend $77 for Nikon Coolpix and $60 latex balloon filled with helium to capture these shots which are 20 miles away from Earth’s surface. Radio-synced to Google Earth, tracked the package soared 885 feet per minute into the sky, taking shots on a periodic timer. The balloon failed around 100,000 before the system parachuted to the ground. The students were able to recover the package that landed 6 miles away from the site they launched it, they extracted the SD card. More pictures after the break. Read more…

GE has released its new G3 Wp waterproof digital camera. It is waterproof to 10 feet, featuring 12.2 Megapixel sensor, 4x optical zoom, a 2.7-inch LCD with an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts its brightness, Auto Scene Detection and Pan-Capture Panorama and ISO 3200. No words on pricing and availability.
Casio has announced their latest digital camera, the EXILIM Zoom EX-Z29. The camera comes in a compact and stylish form, it features 10.1-megapixel image resolution, a 3x optical zoom lens, a 2.7 inch wide LCD display, 17.8 MB built-in flash memory and supports SD and SDHC memory cards. The camera measures 3.64 x 2.16 x 0.91 inches and color options include black, silver, blue, pink and purple.
