The upcoming Modern Warfare 3 is going to be big, as wars are going on around multiple places around the globe: America, England, Germany, and France. The story resumes where Modern Warfare 2 ended, and presumably with the Soviet invading the cities of US, and other main cities around the world. See for yourself all the explosive battles in the trailer above.
Infinity Ward says that Modern Warfare 3 “has moved beyond its Modern Warfare 2 tech”, but will this be enough to change the Quake 3-like gameplay? While those digs against Infinity Ward may have been unfair and inaccurate—its in-house IW Engine has been regularly updated and refined over the years—the next Call of Duty game appears to leave its id Tech 3 legacy behind.
“We haven’t gone into detail on the engine yet but we’ve moved beyond the [Modern Warfare 2] engine and added a lot of cool stuff for [Modern Warfare 3],” writes Infinity Ward creative strategist Robert Bowling on Twitter.
From what I see, there aren’t many changes from the previous engine, with some add-ons and stuff, but nothing too fancy. Hopefully the gameplay is more than just some 7-hours of spicy stories.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is coming November 8, 2011.
Call it late, but well, better late than never. Ubisoft, the company behind the famous Assassin’s Creed series game, is joining the playforjapan.org and is throwing a bunch of items onto eBay for auction, all for the cause of Japan’s March disaster.
The auctions end May 25, 2011, so you better hurry up if you want some super limited items directly from Ubisoft. All proceeds from the auction will benefit Global Giving.
This art concept above is the Wake Island air strip, which is one of the maps in the upcoming shooting game Battlefield 3. Looks awesome? It does. This is posted by DICE at their Battlefield 3 Facebook fanpage, which makes us wonder if this is actually an in-game print screen.
Wake Island air strip is one of the four maps included in the ‘Back to Karkand’ map pack. Back to Karkand comes free with Battlefield 3 pre-orders, and will be available to buy as separate DLC on release. Click the image above for a larger view of the concept art.
Is Revelation a case of too many chefs in the kitchen?
It’s been four years since the first game shown up and four games in four years! Is Ubisoft turning into EA and Activision and milking the franchise?
Assassin’s Creed has always been a big game, developed by multiple studios under Ubisoft (if you’ve notice the credit scroll), but the latest in the series, Revelations will be the biggest one yet. Six studios under Ubisoft’s arm are working on the title, combining into one of the largest development team Ubisoft has ever had working on their games.
According to Ubisoft, Assassin’s Creed Revelation is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Annecy, Ubisoft Massive in Sweden, Ubisoft Singapore, Ubisoft Quebec City and Ubisoft Bucharest. Of course, as usual the development will be led by Ubisoft Montreal Studio, which has 200 man powers to spare.
“This is a huge game,” explains creative director Alexandre Amancio ,”the amount of time and data that goes into all of these systems to build the game is tremendous. So it’s a cooperative venture. We have different studios cooperating on different elements of the game.”
But there’s one more. Yes, a seventh studio is development a movie, an Assassin’s Creed film to run alongside the series. Yes, this is the Ubisoft Motion Pictures that was acquired lately. Ubisoft Motion Pictures are working on three new films, and one of them is for Assassin’s Creed.
Marketing VP says that the film hopes to “reflect the brands accurately and consolidate our fan base,” which we think means you can expect to see the wristblades and free running of the games make the leap to the silver screen. Ubisoft Motion Pictures are also working on films for Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell.
Lately all our Modern Warfare leaks are mostly sourced from Kotaku, and this latest flick from them just shows that Kotaku might be the developer itself. Alright, jokes aside, let’s dive in and see the details of this possible “biggest game of 2011” title.
Kotaku has information on almost everything about Modern Warfare 3, from the locations and characters of the single player campaign to the precise number of maps in the multiplayer mode.
The single player campaign will be set across 15 missions. It will pick up where Modern Warfare 2 left off with the invasion of Manhattan by Russian forces. As with previous Modern Warfare titles the campaign will skip between many different locations across the world, and have you playing as a number of different characters, not all of whom will survive, just like its predecessor.
Locations include Manhattan, the catacombs of Paris, India and Dubai. You’ll be playing as a Russian Federal Protective Services agent, an SAS Operative and a tank gunner. We can also look forward to the return of the AC-130 gunship from previous Modern Warfare titles.
The multiplayer mode will contain 20 maps, though it’s not certain at the moment how many of these will be in the game on launch, and how many will be released as map packs after launch. The excellent co-op Spec Ops mode of Modern Warfare 2 will make a return as well, and will be split into “survival” and “mission” modes. Five survival maps and seven mission maps are listed, some of which may be cut or altered before release.
Zynga, the company behind the digital farm of every peasant in this world, loves Lady Gaga and her awesome costume and illuminati trends. Why? Because she’s the golden goose for Zynga!
Zynga has partnered with Lady Gaga to be the latest face on FarmVille. As of May 17th, FarmVille users will be able to take a much-needed break from wasting their lives and visit GagaVille — a neighboring but equally fake farm full of unicorns, crystals and terrible life decisions. There, visitors will be able to listen to unreleased tracks from Gaga’s forthcoming album, Born This Way, which they can also download for “free,” once they’ve dropped $25 of their parents’ hard-earned cash on a Zynga gift card.
The campaign will mercifully come to an end on May 26th, when many will have slit their wrist already.
There’s an upcoming new game that is developed based on the Alien films and its universe. But who said that? Well, it’s tweeted by… get this… a UK member of parliament! Wow, I never know politicians play games.
Ed Vaizey went to have a visit to Creative Assembly, the firm that developed the famous Total War game.
His tweet reads: “Great visit to Creative Assembly one of UK’s best developers. Now hiring for new blockbuster based on Alien”
Sega have told CVG that the new Alien title will be “a peer to Dead Space 2,” and is currently only confirmed for consoles. It would be very surprising to see the Total War developers move away from PC development, however. Should we give them a ‘boo’?
Sega boss Mike Hayes has told CVG that Creative Assembly have been “given the direction to win awards.”
“This is very much a triple-A project,” he says, “We want this to be a peer to the likes of Dead Space 2.”
Eurogamer say that The Creative Assembly are planning to grow their studio to work on the new title and confirm that development is already underway, though it won’t be ready to show at E3.
Apparently development will be handled by the team behind console hack and slash, Viking: Battle for Asgard. The game will be based on the first Alien film, which suggests more tension and scares than the mass bug shoot of Aliens.
Now how do they all relate? It’s most probably not an official alien game, like how Starcraft used to get its inspiration from the same film too, but The Creative Assembly is owned by Sega, who published Rebellion’s Aliens vs. Predator reboot last year, and are behind Gearbox’s upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines. They have the rights to the Alien franchise.
So how will this turn out? If it’s that epic like Dead Space 2, then I’m all for it.
What shown here is the trailer for Guild Wars 2, and this latest footage shows off the extraordinarily beautiful city of Lion’s Arch. I have to say that Guild Wars’ artists are responsible for some of the most spectacular concept art in the online gaming world. Hopefully ArenaNet will be able to work out some magic and make this game great.
