Blizzard Entertainment has finally launched the alternative pricing options for their highly popular RTS game StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty in Southeast Asia. Starting last week, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty prepaid cards will be available locally at select Internet gaming cafés, convenience stores, and gaming retail shops nationwide in the Philippines, and other countries will follow up shortly. The 3-day, 7-day, and 30-day passes can be used to connect to Blizzard Entertainment’s Southeast Asian Battle.net servers for single-player and multiplayer play of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, which solves the issue for cybercafé players that are high in numbers in this region where game piracy is a big issue. Tony Stark’s Pinball Machine

Pinball machine! They’re the antique of arcade gaming, something my parents would play before the arrival of Pac-man. But I bet nearly all of current generations never touched them before, the real thing I mean. Yes, we’ve played the Pinball game in Windows before, but the digital version would never be the same compared to the real deal. Now here comes the real deal, with a new theme! Read more…

Computer wins at Japanese Chess against human for the first time

Computer wins at Japanese Chess against human for the first time

Yes, we all know that computers can be more efficient and smarter than human, but only to the extent of the developers’ coding. It really depends on how you develop your AI. We’ve seen people playing with computers on chess, be it Chinese chess or English chess or Pizza chess, but now it’s the Japanese’s turn.

The Mainichi Daily News is reporting that for the first time ever, a computer has beaten a human Shogi champion, Ichiyo Shimizu, in Tokyo. The game lasted six hours, and the computer reportedly pursued Shimizu “aggressively” from the start. Must be much stressed to play like that for six hours. The governing association of pro Shogi players will now review the game to determine whether it will allow the computer to move onto challenge another player.

What? Winning is winning, be it a robot or a human. Let the robot show ‘em how it’s done.

Halo Reach requires hard drive to play in co-op mode, Microsoft working on this 'temporary issue'

I’m not sure about you guys, but I play Halo for the storyline, and I’d trash it aside after I’m done with it. Well I don’t represent the rest of the 99.99 percent of the population in the Halo universe anyway. The Halo series has always been about addictive multiplayer experiences, and trash talking with some noob little girls. Therefore, I believe that a huge number of people would be rather distressed right now when they can’t see anyone in the latest Halo: Reach’s co-op mode. Read more…

Unreal Engine on your iFong!

Epic Games is now letting iPhone owners see how well their engine works with a free demo, Epic Citadel. Soon, gaming on an iOS device might be the in-thing to do. Read more…

You might be playing Starcraft 2 in a burning room like Rihanna and Eminem

Many have already notice, but some might not. But luck so far is that none of the Sarah Kerrigan’s followers have been dining in fire, yet. It came to our notice that Blizzard had somehow, in some way forgotten to cap the frame rates of the game while you’re in the single-player’s menu, like for example the JoeyRay’s bar, the Bridge of the Hyperion and some others. Sony Ericsson to introduce Android 3.0 gaming platform and PSP Go-like smartphone

There hasn’t been a big participation when it comes to Android’s gaming platform. Most apps that show up in the app store are daily-use or work-related, which lacks the fun-factor. The number of games for Android has been small when compared to the iOS platform. Bu that’s about to change, as Sony gets its ‘1337 skillz’ onto the green monsters’ home. Engadget has news that says that ‘the company is actively and heavily developing a brand new gaming platform, ecosystem, and device which are already in the late stages of planning’. Perhaps this is where those game developing companies bought by Google steps in. What’s more, it’s going to be Android 3.0! Read more…
