Y01 Holster Is for Gadget Cowboys in Vegas fashion show

Now this is awesome fashion. German designer Dayne Jewell thinks that an oversized leather holster would be great to hold your gadgets, keys, cigarettes, credit cards, headphones and your Colt 45, and not get robbed. Well, looking at the photos, it seems he’s absolutely right. Now the big question: How do you sit without taking it off?

Denon RCD-N7 does AirPlay, but needs $49

Denon showed off their new lineup during last week’s CEDIA show, and among them stands one RCD-N7, which is able to play along with Apple’s latest AirPlay technology. The $599 unit coupled with a pair of $199 SC-N7 speakers features an iPhone dock (or USB jack) for local music sourcing. Otherwise, it’ll stream audio from the likes of Rhapsody, Napster, Pandora and Last.fm. There’s even a Party Mode Plus setting for a five-system multi-zone setup scattered throughout the home, all managed by Denon’s new iPod / iPhone / iPad Remote App. Look for it to hit shelves in October. One sad thing is, if you are an Apple fan and wants it to play along with AirPlay, you’ll need to fork out additional $49.

Apple Remote app 2.0 now supports new Apple TV and iPadt

Apple has just released Remote app version 2.0 for iPhone and iPad, which adds in support for the new iOS-based Apple TV in addition to iTunes on OS X. The interface mostly stays the same – a trackpad-like screen for ATV remote control and an iPod-like interface for more direct media playback — but it’s now augmented for the Retina display on the iPhone 4 and the larger screen size of the iPad. No more pixelated screen. Since the new Apple TV is streaming-only, Remote also now has better support for controlling shared music libraries, making remote control of iTunes on your HTPC slightly easier as well. It’s available now and it’s gratis.

iPhone 4 launched in UAE ,Qatar, and Egypt with no FaceTime

iPhone 4 launched in UAE ,Qatar, and Egypt with no FaceTime

The iPhone 4 was launched during the weekend in Qatar and United Arab Emirates, but was surprisingly missing FaceTime. Phones sold at UAE carriers Etisalat and du, as well as Vodafone Qatar is missing the video calling feature. It was reportedly advertised on Middle Eastern versions of Apple’s iPhone website until around September 20th, when all references to FaceTime were removed. TUAW reports that some UAE denizens have actually tested FaceTime on phones bought abroad and found it working just fine, but that the functionality disappears after installing the local version of the iOS 4.1 update.

One important thing to note here is that UAE and Egypt have banned certain VoIP services in the past. So perhaps that could somehow explain why Apple pulled FaceTime out.

Celcom Malaysia to join the iPhone club?

Back then the iPhone 3G was exclusive to Maxis Communication in Malaysia. But when the iPhone 3GS were launched the exclusivity was deemed ‘gone’ as Digi Telecommunications also launched their iPhone 3GS plans soon after their 3G Broadband packages. However, Celcom has remained silent in regards to the iPhone 4 ‘hu-ha’ in the country. A year ago, Celcom has expressed interested in offering iPhone in their lineups too, and has talked with Apple about it. However, due to limited stocks for Maxis and DiGi, it seemed rather impossible for Celcom to launch their iPhone plan alongside the two other rivals. Read more…
