Not everyone is having unlimited data plan. What’s more, now that JailbreakMe allows you to ‘FaceTime’ your friend directly through the air using your 3G connection, more data will be ‘sacrificed’ for your evil deed. Now thanks to the folks at 9to5Mac, you’ll be able to comprehend even more whether or not you should jailbreak your iPhone 4 and FaceTime your friend using 3G. A 5-minute call resulted in 14.7MB of data transfers — including both uploading and downloading – for the 3G-riding iPhone, which breaks down to a rate slightly lower than 3MB per minute. Not that bad actually, considering you’ll be downloading even more if you’re spamming your iPhone to watch Justin Bieber over at JewTube.

When JailbreakMe release the Cydia iPhone 4 jailbreak, which can be done directly through a webby, they exploited a PDF vulnerability in order to hack your iPhone 4’s iOS 4. Of kush, jailbreaking has always been a mean to hack your phone to bypass what Apple initially locked down in order to have access to more features.

Here’s something that I would call “turning nothing into something”. Creative idea combined with smart engineering, that’s what the AppleSkin 520 is all about. It looked to be a very simple skin for your typical iPod Touch, but somehow there’s a place for you to slot-in your SIM card. Read more…

It was just about a week ago that Apple seeded the beta 1 to developers, and now beta 2 is ready for testing. Looks like the iOS 4.1 is getting ready to go gold very soon.

Ever thought of starting your car using your mobile phone? Well now you can, but only on GM cars that is. GM has developed a new mobile application that would allow customers to have several accesses to their upcoming cars the Chevrolet Volt, and a wide range of 2011 vehicles under their umbrella, like Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC.
Once you install the OnStar app onto your vehicle with an active subscription, you’ll be able to start your car using your smartphone, besides checking the battery levels. Things like remotely activating the horns are also possible. It’s available at both iOS and Android platform.

Yet again, the lovely and sexy white iPhone 4 has been delayed. But this time, instead of giving a clear indication of the time, Apple has pushed back the white iPhone 4 further this time, with an estimation of “later this year”. Ouch! Well looks like the saga of the white knight still continues on without any glimpse. Well Apple better fix the “antennagate” issue while they’re at it! Anyway, it’s a good news that Apple finally decided not to rush their products, and perhaps exchange it for a quality product?

Finally we see Skype being updated for iOS 4. What does this mean? Better graphics and interface for retina display, but more importantly, background VoIP! Yes, now you can use your 3G connection to call your friend using Skype, for free! Sadly it’s only for 3GS and 4 users (of course).
A notification window will pop up when you’re called or messaged, and you can use other apps while on the line chatting to friends, anytime and anywhere. Even on the lock screen, if you received a call, sliding to unlock your iPhone will take you immediately into the call. Sad thing is that video chat is still missing.
“We no longer have plans to charge a supplement to make calls over 3G.”

Apple’s gyroscope chip in the new iPhone 4 has been under question for some people. Many stated that the compass is already ‘not fully utilized’, what’s more when we have the gyroscope in it. I also ponder on the usage of it for apps. But now, I kind of like the inclusion of the gyroscope in this new phone. This video demonstrates nicely the use of the new gyroscope in the Apple iPhone 4. Acrossair’s reality augmented app fully utilizes the new feature. Check the video out.
