When Dell refreshes its dying XPS laptop lineup, the company somehow also reshuffles its marketing strategy. The company’s products are now split into three groups: Inspiron, XPS, and Alienware. Obviously the one missing here is the ‘Adamo’ fashionable lineup. Yes, when Dell went back to the drawing board for their business tactics, they killed the Adamo somehow. Somehow, this can be further proven by the sneaky disappearance of the Adamo XPS from Dell’s site — it’s completely killing off the premium brand and has actually tamped down volumes of the super thin machines. While everyone is paying attention to Apple’s “Back to the Mac” press conference, Apple slyly updated their MacBook Pro lineup, which wasn’t announced in the conference. Specifically, the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pro laptops can now be had with a 2.8GHz Intel Core i7 processor, a bump from the previous 2.66GHz processor model. That’ll top up about $200 more (or RM644) than the previous top-of-the-line i7 processor offered. Read more…

Alright, this goes officially official. Apple’s launching its 11.6-inch baby MacBook Air, which is pretty much a downsized version of its newly-redesigned 13.3-inch MacBook Air. Spec wise, it’s running on a dual-core 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, which is upgradeable to 1.6GHz. Resolution is a typical 1366 x 768, and you get a 64GB SSD for $999 or a 128GB variant for $1,199. Like the iPad, the MacBook Air was designed from the ground up to use flash storage exclusively.

Yes, ‘Back to the Mac’ event is supposed to be about software and the lion, but there’s also some room for an envelope too. Well, the MacBook Air carries the ‘Mac’ name on it too, so there’s no harm letting it get some spotlight on the huge projection of Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs says the new MacBook Air is a hooked up offspring from the old MacBook Air and the iPad. What does he mean? Read more…

Funny story we have here, of a very considerate law breaker. An anonymous Swedish professor informed his local newspaper of a recent ‘lost item’ story of his.
His journey started at a laundry room, when he hid his backpack under a stairwell while taking care of some chores. Obviously the story proceed that his bag was gone. After making a report to the police, our professor here returned to the scene of crime to find that his stuff had been returned, except for his laptop. As there’s nothing much he can do, he continued his ‘boring’ academic life. Read more…

What you see above, is not what you really see above, thanks to Dean Liou. That’s not an arcade, but a laptop. The ArcadeDock Laptop Dock is a half-height arcade machine, complete with a flame job from a dark corner of 1994, a full-on joystick + large button splay and a secret cabinet for a touchpad-equipped keyboard. It’s more of a casemod with more cool stuff really, as the miniature arcade box houses a Lenovo IdeaPad Y560. That’s why you see the ‘Lenovo’ word there. Yes the controllers worked exactly like how an arcade controller should be. King of Fighter anyone? Well, next up should be a 3D Lenovo notebook! Read more…

Acer has just issued a new line of netbooks, and they can’t blame me for thinking that they’re going the Sony’s style. Thus far, I’ve only seen their Aspire One with up to four colour options, but this time, it’s still the same four options but with a more vivid colour. This 10.1-inch machine packs a WSVGA panel, six-cell battery (up to eight hours of battery life), Atom N450 CPU, GMA 3150 GPU, 250GB hard drive, WiFi, 2GB of memory and inbuilt Bluetooth.
