RIM is already losing their market share to touchscreen smartphones, and yet everybody still wants a piece of the BlackBerry pie that’s quickly shrinking, as the company attempts to maintain its position as the face of business-minded smartphones in an era ruled by iPhones and Android devices. It’s tough to avoid mentioning the company when looking at these shots unearthed by Italy’s Android World blog of the forthcoming LG Optimus Pro, whose form factor ought to prove comfortably familiar to BlackBerry devotees. According to the site, the Gingerbread device has a 2.8 inch screen, a three megapixel camera, an 800MHz processor, and will run €179 ($249) in that country. Not much more info is available at present, but there’s a video after the break, and the source link has a few more shots, if you need help imagining it in your hand at your next board meeting.

While the Xperia Play may be at the top of our lists for handheld gaming goodness on the Android Platform, LG has joined the fray with the launch of the LG Optimus 3D and the introduction of 17 Stereoscopic 3D games from mobile games powerhouses Gameloft.
Full versions of 3 titles will come pre-installed with the LG Optimus 3D, namely Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, N.O.V.A and Let’s Golf 2, with 14 further games to be available via download including Assassin’s Creed and Avatar, which aren’t low-tier games that lets you to shoot some pigs with some birds. The never-ending battle between active and polarizing 3D alternatives still isn’t anywhere near its impossible-to-determine finale, but it’s pretty clear that LG’s intent on supporting the latter. Those who aren’t fazed by losing resolution so long as batteries aren’t required in their 3D glasses should be elated to hear of the outfit’s latest Cinema 3D sets, with the 32-inch 32LW5700, 42-inch 42LW5700 and 47-inch 47LW5700 pushing three-dee down to smaller scale displays. We’ve never been particularly fond of the 3D effect on bedroom-sized panels, but those looking for something a bit less gargantuan may beg to differ. The trio will support USB HDD recording, an integrated tuner, and of course, the inclusion of an IPS panel should make both 2D and 3D images alike look downright ravishing. Those fine to settle for the way we’ve always watched TV can opt for the 2D-only 47LZ9600 (47-inch) / 55LZ9600 (55-inch), both clocking in at 8.8mm thick and offering a native 1080p resolution, a built-in TV tuner and support for USB recording. The whole lot is expected to hit Japan later this month, with other dignified nations to surely follow suit shortly.

Looks like the South Koreans are advancing very quick, leaving us behind. LG has just shown off one of their latest product at Computex 2011, and one of them is a super-high-end All-in-one desktop! When we say all in one, we mean all in one, and that means everything goes in.
LG is throwing not only an uber Intel Core i7 processor with AMD Radeon HD 6650M graphics, but also 3D with polarized glasses. There’s also multitouch and wireless, everything’s in here.
The V300′s multitouch 23-inch Film-type Patterned Retarder (FPR)-enabled display offers up 3D with the aid of polarized glasses. Other specs are like 750GB hard drive, 8GB of RAM, and a Blu-ray player all packed inside the system’s slender 1.8-inch thick frame, which is a very decent desktop for those that are space conscious.
The AIW is set for a Korean launch in July, followed by trips to Europe, the Middle East, and other parts of Asia, but they didn’t mention how much it’ll cost.

It’s a good thing that In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels are getting more popular and ‘slightly’ more affordable due to mass production. We’ve had enough with the awful TN with terrible color and viewing angles, but now we’re looking forward to even better stuff, and that is Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching (AH-IPS) displays, and the first is coming from LG.
LG has just demoed their AH-IPS displays at the SID 2011, and boy it does seemed awesome. What’s more awesome is that the AH-IPS can be developed on almost any size, as LG demonstrated a full fledge of display ranging from petite 3.5-inch to humongous 84-inch displays, all using AH-IPS technology.
Of course, things are still looking very early right now, so there’s no telling when AH-IPS will be mass produced for commercial products. So stay tuned!

Hate that Google has announced Gingerbread for months now, and you’re still stuck with Éclair? That’s the best part about Android smartphones, fragmentation at its best. There’s not much that Google could do about it, but they’re at least taking note of this issue and is stepping up the game to help out, as the developer of Android. Google has just announced at their Google I/O a coalition of manufacturers and carriers committed to making sure their Android devices receive the very latest updates. All four major US carriers (and Vodafone) as well as HTC, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG and Motorola are on board, and all will guarantee you timely upgrades to the latest version of Android for eighteen months after release, provided the hardware’s capable. Hopefully this will speed up things, though I think 18 months is still quite ridiculous. Google should’ve pushed it into 12 months. Yiha!

It does look sexy while they launch it earlier this year, but I think it’s a little too late to enter the international market for LG. LG has finally announced that their extremely slim Optimus Black will be hitting stores in Europe this month, with launches planned for North America and Asia at unspecified times after that. Then again, I’m not sure many will be willing to settle with this single-core 1GHz processor smartphone when more dual-core smartphones arrives in summer. But do bear in mind that this black beauty comes with the awesome 700 nit NOVA display that will make all your Galaxy S II and Sensation 4G shit in brix, in terms of brightness that is. Also, that 9.2mm thickness is hard to rival, unless you’re talking about the 8.9mm thick Galaxy S II.

If you remember, a small number of iPad 2 where facing backlights bleeding issues, and according to DigiTimes’ anonymous sources, LG Display was “forced to reduce its shipments in the first quarter due to light leakage problem for panels”. If you didn’t know, LG, Panasonic, and Chimei made IPS panels, while Samsung don’t. This shows that LG ‘may’ the culprit of the iPad 2 panel leakage issue, but there’s no official statement to back this up of course. Till now nobody has stepped up to confirm this issue though, which means that this may be a very small issue among the millions of iPad 2 sold.

LG is said to have their LG Shuriken display, one with very tiny bezel and awesome display, debuting on Acer’s new MacBook-wannabe laptops. However, it seemed that LG is keen on keeping that fun with itself first, as they’ve launched a new series of laptops using the Shuriken display before Acer did.
The 14-inch P430 and 15.6-inch P530 mark the start of LG’s new Blade series of laptops, which are the result of some obsessive slimming work at the LG labs — display thickness is 4.5mm and 4.7mm, respectively, while the bezel on the 14-inch model is so narrow as to fit its screen within the dimensions of a traditional 13.3-inch laptop, similar to what we hear Acer achieved with their laptops.
Not only did they managed to slim down the notebook by a huge margin, they’ve also ‘somewhat’ gone upscale by using brushed aluminium to strengthen the chassis of the laptops, making them weighting at 1.94kg on the P430 and 2.2kg on P530.

Looks like it’s not only Apple that’s going to launch a white smartphone this weekend, as something white and big is also coming from the direction of South Korea. It’s white, and it’s big. That’s the new LG Optimus Big. LG’s latest Android smartphone is called the Big as the 4.3-inch screen cannot be mistaken.
The specs of this B.I.G. should not be taken lightly too, as LG has thrown in a 1GHz dual-core processor, a slightly skinned Android 2.2 as its OS, HDMI output, a 5 megapixel camera, and 16GB of built-in storage.
You might think that this is just a white Optimus 2X, but the Big’s getting features that the latter doesn’t have. That’s the NOVA display, which can crank all the way up to 700 nits of brightness, and WiFi Direct, which allows for wireless inter-device communication without the need for an intermediary WiFi access point.
Coming April 28th, which means that you don’t have to wait until summer or fall for a dual-core smartphone.
