HifiMAN HM-801 portable media player comes with an integrated amplifier in the form of a Burr-Brown PCM1704U DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) chip allowing it to handle the AAC, FLAC, WMA lossless, WMA, OGG, WAV and MP3 files. Its battery offers 6 to 8 hours operation time. The Hifiman will be available this coming June for about $700.

Microsoft officially announced its Zune HD. The flash-based Zune HD comes with strong metal design and is the fist to feature touchscreen, a 3.3″ 16:9 widescreen capacitive OLED with multitouch with 480×272 resolution. The Zune HD will be the first portable media player to feature HD radio which display song and artist info and far better sound quality than traditional radio. It also has a HD (720p) video-out, accelerometer, Wifi (which will be battery sucking when it is on) for multitouch browsing with a portable browser based on Internet Explorer. It comes with a 4.3-inch 480 x 272 touchscreen display, TF expansion of up to 4GB, and capable of playing RM/RMVB, AVI, ASF, MP4, FLV video files and MP3, WMA, OGG, APE, FLAC, WAV audio files. Itoos T68HD is a Chinese PMP that comes with 800×480 4.3” LCD, 8GB of internal memory, and support the playback of MP3, WAV, RM, RMVB, FLV AVI, MPG4 files and also capable of playing 720p videos either on its 4.3” screen or a TV via TV out. It is priced €66.

This is the Nextar MA809 portable media player. It measures only 0.25 inch thin which is almost half of iPhone 3G. It is capable of playing MP3/WMA audio files, JPEG/BMP/GIF picture files, AVI video files and also has a FM radio. The MA809 PMP will be out in the second quarter 2009, 2GB for around $100 while 8GB goes $149.
